Sears/Household Bank-retail Services In collusion with Sears-misrepresented financial terms completely false promises Wood Dale, IL Illinois
In January 2002, after comparing interest rates and services we contracted with Sears for siding on our house - We agreed on a monthly payment of $107.00 and the work was performed. The salesman told us sears might sell the contract but it would not affect our terms and if anything the payment might go up a "couple of dollars".
We were notified in July 2002 that retail services was now handling the contract and the payment would be $160.00 monthly. We called them and explained that we are retired, on a fixed income and selected sears based on a payment of $107.00 and could not really afford the $160.00 payment - a very rude "lady" gave us a telephone number to contact about the payment - It was a debt consolidation agency they referred us to. They, at no time informed us that household bank was even connected. This certainly appears to be collusion between sears and an obviously disreputable company. All contacts between us and retail services have resulted in rude, short answers with absolutely no attempt to even be civil. I registered a complaint with sears and to date have not even received an answer. What is the "little guy" to do when faced with corruption on this level?
