How clever they think the are! Just when the President signs the Social Security Drug plan does this show up in my mail. It came as one of the most official things you could get. Unless you read it very close you would think it came from Social Security. How many seniors will get this and not have the eyesight they did 25 years ago? They will sheepishly start sending their $5.95 a month until they see they are not saving much, or someone tells them.

I have called on several drugs in my area. A number of the ones I called are on the list of participating stores. If I used this plan instead of just shopping like I do for my meds, I wouldn't be able to eat for the last 10 days of the month.

I too called on several popular drugs and the difference was anywhere from $.75 to $58.00.

There should be something done to companies that use direct-mail like this. I am saving their mail-out and faxing it to my Congressman and my Senators. Maybe they will know how to get them to stop trying to screw seniors out of what little money they have if they are on Social Security.

You really have to check out the prices, I'm telling you from experience. I am a former employee of this company. Most of my calls from customers were about their savings. At the call center, we have the same system that the pharmacies have as far as prices go. If you have a question about an already run-through RX price you may call customer service for a price check or for any other reason.. be nice please, and they will help you. If you're not happy with the price, ask for more specific help. :) I think that when people join, the "how to's" are not explained enough, I can only speak for myself, guys. When I was there, I went out of my way to help people. There are 2 prices. The wholesale (amount the store pays for the drug) and the retail price. With the card, you are supposed to pay the lowest price the pharmacy has (wholesale). I used to advise customers to be sure to double check each time with us or the first few times (call or go online). I remember quite a few customers would call to say how horrible we are and much nastier things still, we are trained to always check that the customer was quoted the right price at the pharmacy. I"d say 60-70 % of those calls were given the wrong price quote when they were at the pharmacy. I'd make sure the customer gave the pharmacist the card each time, even if they had it on file; watch when they run the card. I'm not saying anything always or never happens, but, I did have a few pharmacies call me and complain that they had to give the lower price to the customer. IF THIS HAPPENS, call customer service and a claim can be filed against the pharmacy and you will get a refund. This is not advertised, but people should know. I understand that not everyone will have a good experience with the card. When people would cancel, for example, they'd say sometimes, they were going to try Canada's drugs or they got it cheaper from one of the warehouse stores. And of course they'd call me every name in the book when I was doing everything I could to help them. It only irritates the rep, it does not help matters. Write to your congress person or senator, that's the kind of thing they will lobby for under healthcare. But just to be fair, companies and businesses have to be approved by each state they market to, and once their letterhead, name, etc is approved, they can use it. The health plan, I felt, was unethical, which is why I quit. I didn't like the health plan because it isn't accepted EVERYWHERE , especially in smaller towns, and we were supposed to "push" it. I couldn't do that and feel good about myself. The dental plan was pretty good. I had it for a while when I had no coverage. It worked well, because my other private insurance didn't do anything. Also, if you are one of those who the card did not help, make sure you ask about a refund because even if it is after your guarenteed trial/refund period, they may still refund if you ask. But if you don't ask they probably won't. P.S. Warehouse clubs are the best bet for cheap rxs.
