I purchased a mule from this guy hoping to get a "been there, done that" mule, as he advertised. What I received was an essentially UNBROKE mule. I doubt he'd been ridden much. NO NECK REIN, NO LEG CUES, RUNS OFF, etc. Seth Chase was belligerent when I called him to discuss. He sent him without Coggins. Illegally transported the mule. I've had to send this mule off for formal professional training all summer. I'm now in him $9500 and never been on a trail ride. If you just research his advertisements (a lot on equinenow.com) you'll see he lists ALL of his mules as a 1 out of 10 temperament (very calm, the best). Really? All his mules? Since my purchase, I have researched and spoken to a lot of mule owners and trainers. I hear the same story over and over. DO NOT BUY FROM SETH CHASE.

Just thought I would address this report. This mule is a GREAT mule. My kids rode him all the time bareback around our place in the mountains. He is super gentle and handles really well. Unfortunately this buyer had a really bad hauler who significantly raised the price of her hauling upon arrival with the mule. The hauler was really upset when he came down our driveway to our place. We are surround by forest service roads and there is a stretch about 70 yards long that was recently washed out by a heavy rain. This hauler sent some pretty ugly texts to my wife about how the price of hauling just went significantly up for the buyer. The buyer was understandably upset when she was charged by the hauler upon his arrival. Even though it clearly wasnt my doing the buyer called me up while I was guiding some bear hunters and chewed me out. She called me quite a few names including "stupid Mother F*****". She was out of control and very ugly. I regret to say I didnt handle it very well and while I didnt use profanity as she did, I did raise my voice to her and ended up hanging up on her. I realize I should have handled the situation differently. My apologies for that. The mule did leave my ranch with all the correct paperwork, Im not sure if the hauler and the buyer were at odds when the mule was delivered due to the price increase. Maybe he didnt give her the paperwork but haulers wont even take animals without current coggins and health. My vet would be happy to verify that I get coggins done before hauling. My clients usually call the vet themselves to pay for all the paperwork.
