Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
A few months ago I was contacted at the small business where I work by a telemarketer representing Sharednet Web Hosting. After politely listening to this person's offer to create and host a website for my company, I explained that my company already has a website (which I designed/maintain), and a private server, and additional hosting would be unnecessary.

The telemarketer stressed that there would be no obligation and I should at least consider what Sharednet might do for our company in terms of reaching search engines. I requested written information by mail and insisted that I would not make any decisions until I consult with my boss. The Sharednet representative, who was very friendly and personable, assured me that no charges would be incurred if I just give her a few stats regarding my company so that a mock website could be set up for my consideration.

I gave her the info as we both listened to a recorded voice. She stayed on the line and pressed the # and * keys as I gave the company name, address, etc., while also laughing and making jokes with me. When a final statement was presented regarding billing after 15 days she said something to the affect of, "that doesn't apply to you. We just have to go through all of these steps."

I received the Sharednet packet, looked over it and threw it away. Even though I never looked at or logged onto the supposed mock site, a charge of $70.32 for Sharednet just appeared on our phone bill from Integretel, Inc. I immediately contacted Bellsouth, who refuted the charge and suggested I contact Sharednet to verify. The person I spoke with at Sharednet agreed to find the recorded conversation and call me back, which she did (left a msg.) I called Sharednet & listened to the conversation only to discover that the first segment of our discussion was not included, and the telemarketer's comments regarding the final statement not applying were also not recorded.

After explaining the mix-up to a customer service representative, I expected the situation to be resolved and billing to be canceled. Naisha, Rep #512 claimed to be the supervisor, the highest-ranking person I could speak with, and refused to help me. Instead, she chastised me for making a phone agreement with Sharednet, and refused to accept my claim that I had been deceived. From her statements I concluded that the initial person who contacted me was "only a telemarketer" and has no real connection with the company. At one point of the conversation she said she could not give me any more information and hung up on me.

I called back, got her name and emp. number and am now waiting for a bill to come, again, in the mail, for a service I did not request from a company that obviously does not care about reputation or potential customer base. And I will have to pay it out of my own paycheck.

The same thing happened to me -I have contacted every agency to report these people that I can find... There is a lawsuit which they lost and were told to cease and desist but they just keep on. ...the lawsuit is Civil No. S-99-1087-WBS JFM, Judge Shubb. Let me know if there is any way we can stop these people -they are very smug and need to be put out of business permanently -they have no conscience and unless they are dealt with severely they will just pop up again elsewhere
