As many here already know and if reading this have probably had a run in with a Kirby Dealer. I have had the luxury of dealing with them not once but twice.

Three months ago on a Wednesday at 3pm a 20 year old Hispanic Kirby dealer with Silver City Kirby in Reno comes to my house. Tattoos up and down the body and looked like he just got out of prison. He was a nice guy but like most didint listen when you say you are not interested. I got the bed mite speal, Nasa product, etc. I decided that I would like one cause just so happen our other just died.

After signing the contract and waiting almost 4.5 hours for them to leave I looked at my contract and noticed a problem. The three days I get to back out were dated the same day I signed and not three days later. They sucked me in before I even realized it. After fuming for over a month and reading these reports I decided to take them on head to head.

I sent an email to the financial company UCFS, which all Kirby dealers use. Saying I was no longer paying because of the discrepency on my contract. After they tried to call over and over again they sent me a copy of my contract that they have. Sure enough the salesman caught his mistake after leaving my house, changed the date, and forged my initials. This whole time UCFS is doing everything they can to call me. So I send another email stating all correspondance will be donw through email or letter for legal purposes. So after receiving the forged document I sent them this letter:

I would first like to thank you for sending me proof that my agreement was altered and fraudulently initialed by the salesman from Silver City Inc. in Reno, Nevada. Attached to this letter is a copy of MY agreement and your agreement. It is clear as day that the change to the Notice of Cancellation was clearly done after the salesman left because it is only done to your form and not my copies which were given as they left. If you would like more proof I also have the co-buyers copy as well.

However, the biggest issue is your company and/ or Silver City, Inc in Reno forging my initials on a legal document. That change, which I am now aware of, was not made in my presence and I now have the proof.

Please be advised that if I do not receive confirmation that I am released from this contract, credit reports are cleared, Kirby machine is picked up, and reimbursement for the two months of $91.04 installments within 15 days, I will be forced to take legal action against your company and Silver City, inc for forgery and altering of a legal document.

Also be advised a copy of this letter and back up documents will be hand delivered to Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller and the Better Business Bureau for inquiry and investigation of your companies activities in the state if confirmation is not made IMMEDIATELY!

....With no direct response back I once again emailed the company. The response was rude and mean. Especially since I would talk with them over the phone. All I had to mention was all Kirbys and UCFS lawsuits for fradulant activity and I was given this letter from the company:

Dear Mr. Davis,

Please be advised we are closing your account with United Consumer Financial Services and reassigning the contract to the selling distributor, Silver City Incorporated. Your payments will be returned to you as you requested. In addition we have requested the three major credit bureaus delete any information related to this account. If you have any further questions you may reach me through email or the phone numbers listed below.

Although I am dealing with Silver City at this point the fact that UCFS back out shows their admittance to guilt.

So last night at 7pm my door bell rings and its 2 13 year old kids wanting to sell me a Kirby. Needless to say the first thing out of my mouth is "Get the f&%# off my property. After asking four times they turn around and start walking away as one kid turns around and calls me an a**hole. I have never seen a kid run so fast in his life. As I stop and look at the other kid, he steps back and apologizes for the other kid. At this point the kid running is three houses up and starts yell that I am a dead Mf'er, and hes going to kill me and f%$# up my house. As the other kid is still standing with me this kid walks up and apologizes.

Well I wasnt taking that so I chased him down till he peed himself. They left! 20minutes later the rep for Silver City comes up and starts cussing me out on my porch cause that little kid was his son. Afeter telling him everything that happen he started stumbling his words and had nothin!

I shut the door and called it a night!

LESSON TH LEARN BY THIS.....STAY AWAY FROM KIRBY, DO NOT GET INTO CONTRACT WITH THEM.....AND ALWAYS CHECK EBAY BEFORE BUYING ANYTHING FROM A DORR SALESMAN

GOOD LUCK ALL

See i know exactly what he is talking about. About 4 months ago i went in for an interview as well. And yep i had Cameron as well although i dont think he was wearing a pink shirt. I sat threw the same interview and he did and as i do have to agree he was very general in the job details. But i figured i would test it out and see. I then found out i was gonna be selling kirbys i thought oh well its a job at least. You see there is a reason i found why we tend to keep the job postings and interviews so general. Its not to rip any one off or trick anyone its just very hard to post Door to Door sales or Kirby salesmen needed. So as we interview we tell them that we do deal with kirby and then during training its explained fully. As for working more than 40 hours a week.... yep... i mean lets face it no one got rich working 40s a week right... If you find one send me their way because thats a good paying job.

Unfortunately it is true that a dealer decided to add the change outside of the customers home. This dealer was let go after finding out what had happened because we certainly do not condone this kind of act. Just for reference though we do not all use ucfs, i prefer Gold-pan myself. After a sale is made with a financial company the independent dealerships have no say in what happens. Now as soon as it was released back to Silver City we did refund all money and did take the Kirby back with sincerest apologies. There was no admittance to guilt there was just a dealer rep who made a mistake and decided not to tell anyone about it and tried to fix it on his own and again he was taken action against and released from the company. Now as far as 2 13 year olds its a lie... we dont employ people under the age of 17 and when they are 17 we do require a permission slip from the parents giving them permission. Now it is possible two dealers were disrespectful but as far as a 13 year old and his father not true. And if people are disrespectful to you or at your do please let the office know there is a number on the flyer that you can call to report and disrespectful people. And again we apologize for a dealers bad decision because it should not have been altered by him and without you knowing. But as for 13 year olds we have records to prove that 17 is a must even at that we try to only hire 18+ people.

They are now called J&L Distribution!

I just had an interview with J&L Distribution in Reno, Nevada this morning. Turns out they were Kirby Vacuums in disguise! When I called for the interview they said it would be setting up appliances in customers' homes The first red flag was how many candidates showed up at the same time I was scheduled for. The office was very stark and ghetto fabulous. Cameron, the manager, was a fast talker in a cheap suit with pink shirt and tie. During our less than ten minute interview he did not even look at my cover letter and resume, nor bat a lash when I told him of my college education. The rest of the applicants looked like they were playing hooky from high school. Several times he was distracted from my seemingly annoying probing questions as a buxom blonde walked by his office window! He mentioned many different products, but the whole office was actually Kirby Vacuums. The experience was very amateur and cheesy. My gut feelings immediately told me that this place reeked of dishonesty. They promise $2,000 a month salary, but after reading all these posts, I am sure that includes way more than 40 hours a week. Sounds like the whole pay scale is the old bait and switch technique. As I drove away they were loading up the white vans with vacuums and young sucker employees. This guy is no spring chicken that fell off the turnip truck yesterday! I am so glad I found this and read about all the scams they pull on their customers and employees. I was just typing "Kirby Vacuums" into Google and immediately "Scams" popped up after the name! Thousands of hits and links under that should tell you something... Thanks everyone, especially the trash talking Kirby reps that exposed their selves as bitter shysters. Go try Amway or Vector Knives next!
