Smart Friend Beyond Information TEC think they are connected to Hewitt Packard program my laptop to printer by taking control of computer Dolgeville New York
Purchased HP computer from Staples about 10/31. Later decided to hook up my printer to the laptop. Used my printer disk but unable to connect. Contacted HP online and was given toll free number. beyond Information number came up. Called and paid them 499.99 for service. They took control of my computer and was satisfied with their service. They ordered a cord thru Smart Friend. In about week received cord. Called Beyond Information back and they told me how to hook up the cord to the printer and they then took control of the computer again and they finished setting up connection from computer to printer.
Today, 11/13 Beyond Information called to say they were going out of business and wanted to refund the 49.99. They wanted to reimburse to my bank account. They again took control of computer and asked for last 4 digits of my account. Asked if I had any other accounts with the bank. Asked for last 4 digits of my checking account number and last 4 numbers of my Freedom Visa. A long period of questions and finally my account showed an additional $5000 instead of $50. When I told him there was 5000 he got upset. Said he was going to get fired and he had a 4 year old child and needed my help to get his money back. He offered me compensation to help him get this money back. At that point I saw this was a scam. Call ended.
Called Chase bank and reported incident.
49.99 HP SBC and RPR - 800-474-6836 in CA was the price of the programming laptop to wireless printer.
Credit card was used in original transaction of 499.99 and card for 49.99 to connect computer to printer.
