I unfortunately fell for the good reviews that were posted about Smartstart. If you are thinking about getting this particular devise installed into your vehicle DON'T DO IT!!!!!. I had it installed and nothing but problems for the first month. Would lock me out frequently which I would have to take time off of work and go to the Smartstart dealer and have them take the lockout off. Tho went on to a while. Should've taken it out right then. The reason I'm writing this review is for something that has happened this week. I went and stopped for an ice cream at a local ice cream stand. Rinsed my mouth out prior to starting my vehicle. Blew into my devise and it immediately locked me out. 72 hr count down. Shocked at what was happening I rinsed again. Same thing happened. Rinsed a third time and it passed me. So with in 2 minutes tho devise realized I wasn't drinking or impaired to drive. Unfortunately being locked out means I would be charged 50$. I call immediately the 1-800 number because it I after business hours. They tell me to talk to the Massachusetts Smartstart office. Calling the office I encounter that they do not care that within 2 minutes my readings are now zero. Horrible experience with a company I trusted. I explain to them that it was ice cream and with in 2 minutes my readings were back to 0 and they seemed more concerned about me paying them the 50$. Tho is people lives that are being toyed with. A 2$ ice cream just became a 52$ ice cream. Now the Massachusetts RMV thinks I blew a positive reading when in fact it was ICE CREAM!!!!!!. On second note I asked the wonderful lady I was speaking with to send me a list of foods or non alcoholic drinks that would set this device off and her response was " We dont have one " Baffling really that a company who sells a device that picks up alcohol hasn't researched what else it may pick up. Does that sound like a customer caring company ? My main concern is the lack of caring with the Smartstart company. These are peoples lives we are talking about. I haven't had an alcoholic beverage in 5 1/2 years and now it looks to the Massachusetts RMV I have. Thanks Smartstart.
