Well Folks, Reporting the Crooks works! My full refund of $1529.00 was credited to my account on 12/08/08. First: Dispute the charge with your credit card company and replace the card with a new one to avoid having fraudulent charges put on by Sonic cameras. Second: Report them to the NY Attorney Generals office at Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, Office of Attorney General/ Internet Bureau, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271-0332. Be sure to include all correspondence, emails and receipt copies as well as do a detailed log of the conversations you had. Third: Report them to The Better Business Bureau, 257 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10010-7384. Include the same information in your complaint that you did to the AG's office. Fourth: Report them to the NY State Consumer Protection Board, 5 Empire Plaza, Suite 2101, Albany, NY 12223-1556 www.nysconsumer.gov Include the same information. On Tuesday November 25, 2008 I received a call from a Jacob representing himself as the Manager of Sonic Cameras (The Caller ID stated: US1 Camera GZ, 347-274-0713). He says he has just received a letter along with my complaint from the AG's office and wants to resolve the complaint. First he claimed that I had been given an exchange # and was supposed to send it back for an exchange and I said bull! The exchange was for lenses I did not want and did not order and if you have a copy of the complaint you can read that for yourself. Your Company refused to give me a Return Authorization Number. I told him that those scam artists Kevin and Ron Daniel you have representing your company are crooks and he replied that Kevin was fired and Daniel's no longer works in Customer Service. He then asked if he could send the lenses I ordered and I said, No. Sonic Cameras is not an authorized Canon dealer and the warranty cards would be worthless. I informed him that the only way I will be satisfied is if I return his unopened merchandise and get a full refund. He said no problem and gave me a RMA #(Return Merchandise Authorization). He also gave me his UPS Account # so that it wouldn't cost me any money and that when he gets the merchandise back, then he will refund $1529.00 to my account. I mailed out the package that afternoon. On 12/08/08 I received confirmation from my credit card Company that $1529.00 had been credited to my account. It is obvious that the only reason they made this gesture was the inquiry by the Attorney General's office. I got my money back but I however, feel strongly that they are still crooks. If you look at the hundreds of similar complaints posted on the internet against this company and other company names that they use it is obvious that it is the way they do business. My caller ID links this Jacob with US1 Camera that also has a terrible record of unethical bait & switch business tactics which obviously can not be blamed on a single Customer Service Rep. It is anybody's guess as to how many different company names these scam artists are operating under or how many people that they have cheated who didn't have the knowledge or know how to report them to the authorities to get a refund. These people are crooks and need to be shut down and prosecuted. Lesson learned: Do your homework! Look up reviews on the internet before purchasing from an unknown Company (no matter how low their prices are) don't fall for fast talking salesmen trying toi switch your order after the fact and always check with the Better Bureau to see their track record (Sonic Cameras had well over a hundred complaints). Be tenacious! It works.
