Sony Playstation2 products are a ripoff
I purchase a sony play station 2 for my husband on our 1st wedding anniversary with in a week of having his new toy, we had to take it back to the store for a new one. Without any hesitation they replaced it do to them just coming out. Nov of 2000.(we had are name on a list for this product for 9 mo.)
We really enjoyed our system, and even bought three others two for family members and one for a good friend of ours.
We have spent over 3000 dollars on products and machines.
In April of 2001 we had to replace our 2nd system. We had to buy this system because sony only warranty's their product for 90days. We had so much money into the systems already we didn't want to have to start over with a new co.
Now not even a year later we have to replace another one. We called sony to see if their was anything that could be done. They were more than happy to fix it for 150.00 dollars which is half of the system. We would have to send it in a box and then pay postage to have them ship it back. If it ever gets returned the system we bought for our friend was sent in under warranty and they lost records of having it and he was out the machine. OOPS nothing we can do.
So if you have the opportunity to buy a new system do not go with Sony..

some idiots would send in a unit with no return address or phone number

I worked for them as technician for PS2's and they don't just "lose" records of units sent in. Many times some idiots would send in a unit with no return address or phone number, or any other way of telling who sent it. This is probably what your friend did. We didn't just not send them back just for kicks.
