I'm very sorry for your experience. However, it is true that in most offices you will be charged extra for your own pads because each pair of pads can cost between 6 to 10 dollars and is not reimbursed by insurance. As far as the gels are concerned, there is no way to "reuse" the gels to apply an electric stimulation pad. These gels, or conductants, are absorbed by the body. Certain people do have allergic reactions or sensitivities to these gels and there is really no way for the doctor to know that beforehand. Regarding the cleaning of the tables, I have an important question: Were you clothed, or was your bare skin on the table? If it was your bare skin that indeed is unsanitary and you could report the office to the health department. If, however, your clothes remained on, there really is no need for a paper lining on the table itself for anything other than your piece of mind. Regarding the rules for staying in business, the "health hazards" you described are not serious enough to shut a business down. Just think of the unsanitary conditions at many restaurants that remain open! It sounds to me like your doctors did not have good communication skills, for which I am sorry. However, it also sounds like you and your husband will be happier at another facility, so you both will benefit in the end. I hope this has not spoiled your experience with chiropractors in general, as we are not all like that. Best of luck in finding another one more to your suiting.
