Soyo is defrauding consumers while attempting to pump up its revenues and profits to defraud investors.
I purchased a Soyo motherboard from Newegg.com on 8/30/04; Soyo promised 2 separate rebates on this purchase totaling $75, and I promptly completed and submitted the rebate applications along with the required proofs of purchase. 10 weeks later, since I still had not received the rebates, I emailed Soyo at
[email protected] to determine the status of my rebate submissions.
I received a canned reply telling me to check the Web site www.verifyrebate.com, which I did. This Web site indicated that no information was available regarding my rebate submissions, so I emailed Soyo again.
This time, I received the following reply: "We would like to apologize for the delay. Your rebate has not been processed. Please keep checking www.verifyrebate.com to check on your status. Thank you for your patience."
Each time I checked the verifyrebate.com Web site, I was informed that there was no information available about my rebate submissions, so I again emailed Soyo, and this time, they did not respond.
Subsequently, I sent several emails to Soyo inquiring about the status of my rebate submissions, but they did not respond to any of these. I also made several phone calls to Soyo, and I was often put on hold indefinitely or disconnected. On one occasion, I was able to leave a voicemail for a Soyo representative named Jennifer, but she never returned my call. I was never able to talk with a live person regarding this issue.
Most recently, I sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and Soyo responded to my complaint by indicating that my rebate submissions must have been lost in the mail and it's not Soyo's responsibility.
I concede that mail is sometimes lost, but in this instance, I mailed 2 rebate submissions in separate envelopes on separate days (one was mailed on 9/7 and one was mailed on 9/8) through my local Post Office. Furthermore, I have never had a problem with lost mail that I've sent through my local Post Office. Therefore, I find Soyo's contention that my rebate submissions must have been lost in the mail overwhelmingly doubtful and suspicious.
