Specialty Merchandise Corporation (SMC) Manipulation by high powered sales people, instead of Instructors Chatsworth California
I was taken in by Tom Bosley's "Oh so honest" presentation. I thought I had found a business that I could build on and finally allow me the freedom I wanted, with an affordable investment. This investment was to be less than $25.00 per month (remember?) I have invested almost $500.00 in just the sample kit and membership fees and have not been able to recoop my investment because in this area most of the items can be purchased at stores such as WalMart for the same as members' cost with SMC.
When I was not able to sell the items from my sample kit, catalogues, and brochures, I stopped paying on the $412.45 membership fee. I then received a call from an SMC rep who threatened to sue me for Breach of Contract. An arrangement was worked out to finish a one year membership.
The "Mentors" I was directed to for sales help were high pressure salesmen. I was referred to four people who were supposed to be Mentors but were instedad high pressure sales people.
When I finally was directed to a real Mentor, she had no idea how to help me make my business successful. She was not able to answer any of my questions, and could tell me no more than I heard on the commercial. I congratulate any who have been successful, but hope there are no more victims of this lie.

smc is a good company. I been a member since oct 2000. I have a few wholesale accounts. I made money useing thers swap meet programs.I took my time and tested there marketing plans and found the ones that work for me. I have found a new way to market there product myself. The prices are very good to work with. With smc prices you have the ability to discount and still double your money. The customer service is good they replace products if there not satisfactory, and you get to keep the old one at no cost. I learned alot about the wholesale and retail business dealing with smc. Smc is a good chance for someone to make a nice income with the right planing. Pace yourself and put some thought into some items out of the catalog you would like to market. The catologs are out there you just have to pick out some product and come up with your own sales material. Be creative, make the money and smile.Take your time.
