I have flown with Spirit many times and had some good, and some not so good experiences. As for taking your bag across to the loading area, it must have been at an airport other than Ft. Lauderdale. Or has that changed in the last few months? I think that one's an airport rule. Best way is to check your luggage with the guys outside. Almost every airline these days is charging extra for bags. Well, it seems the people that fly Spirit have learned how to manipulate the rules. I believe that Spirit allowed their bags checked for free so they didn't hold up the plane. It would have taken a lot longer to make those people pay for their bags. So, you can take stock that you followed the rules instead of being one of those many people that bend the rules. Those rule benders are the ones who helped put our country in the great shape it is in today (lol). Yes, they get rewarded money wise (they seem to think that's what it's all about), but it shouldn't be what it's all about. Isn't it amazing too that those people feel great about it because they saved a few bucks? Pretty sad.
