Their have been many postings on this website regarding Suncoast Vacations and United Vacation Networks. They are a company that tricks honest people into giving thousands of dollars to join their travel club. This club offers low prices on hotel/condo suites all over the world. They also offer a free cruise on royal Caribbean for all those who come to their presentation. Well, they apparently have no tie to Royal Caribbean, and their club is more or less a joke.

I wanted everyone to know that for the past month they have been camped out at the Springhill Suites hotel in Round Rock, Texas. Springhill Suites is one of many Marriott hotel chains. As a loyal Marriott customer, I am very disappointed that Marriott decides to do business with such dishonest people as those at Suncoast Vacations. I am requesting you kick them out of your hotel before you get more bad press regarding this issue.

Thanks

John

Marriott has nothing to do with your rip-off

I know your posting is old but I came across it and had to get your problem understood to you. I have been a Sales Manager for Marriott for several years. One of my duties includes renting out meeting space. Any company can rent out the meeting space. Most meeting space is located close to the lobby. What these companies, organizations, etc., do in their meeting room is their business. We have no control over what is being done in their room that the rented for business. You need to be complaining merely on SunCoast and not Marriott. If you go to a mall and Dillards rips you off, you don't complain of the actual mall do you? If you go to a bank that is located in a Wal-Mart and the bank rips you off, you don't walk out saying, "Wal-Mart ripped me off" do you? No, because the bank did. Just because they are located inside doesn't mean they control what the bank does? During my years with Marriott, I have rented our meeting space to hundreds of companies. I have no control as to what they are selling, teaching, or doing in that room as long as they paid and are going according to hotel policy. Only hold accountable to the actual company that ripped you off, not where they are located.

Do you work for Marriott?

Peter, I honestly don't see your concern/interest in my report. Why do you spend time attacking my opinions, when there are obviously others things to do in Pony? Do you work for Marriott? You don't live in Texas, so you have no idea what the management of Marriott's hotel in Round Rock knows. Suncoast Vacations has been camped out all month in a room directly next to the front desk and the manager's offices. They do business in the hotel's lobby lounge. They see first hand the corrupt business that is going on. It is definitely in their best interest to stop renting space to this company. I realize that I bring little business to Marriott compared to companies like Suncoast Vacations, but that doesn't mean Marriott cares any less. That specific hotel is getting a bad reputation from not just me, but a few others that we spoke to at the meeting. I am sure many more people over the last month are annoyed as-well. Lot's of little people can truly make a difference. Anyway, unless you have true interest in this issue (Marriott employee), I don't see why you continue to worry about what I have to say. If you do work for Marriott, then why don't you go be productive and stop attacking good customers.

I regret to inform you that your opinion is WRONG. You are no more special than anyone else when renting a hotel room. You deserve no special treatment or priority. In fact, Mariott and any other hotel chain prefers the business of large groups, not some little guy who needs a room only a few days out of the month. Furthermore, it is ludicrous to believe that the hotel is responsible for "knowing what's going on" in their rooms. Haven't you ever heard of privacy??? I bet if a hotel ever questioned YOUR behavior, you'd throw a fit and cry "invasion of privacy" in addition to "rip off."

Not Kidding

I realize it's hard for hotels to monitor the activity of their clients (anyone renting space), but that doesn't mean they have no responsibility (my opinion). This hotel's management is aware of Suncoast Vacation's fraudulent activities, yet does nothing. Hotels can definitely be responsible for activities taking place on their property if, and it is a big if, they know what is going on and don't do anything about it. In this specific case they probably have no legal worries at all, but they do have the court of public opinion to worry about. I am a valued customer of Marriott, and stay at their hotels 6-7 nights a month. I personally look down on Marriott for allowing companies like Suncoast Vacations to camp out on their property and steal money from people. Is Marriott legally doing anything wrong? Probably not; but that doesn't make it right. I hope Marriott understands that it's honest customers are the important people, not creeps like Suncoast vacations. Thanks for listening.

A hotel's responsibility is to rent a room in exchange for a monetary fee. Period. It is none of the hotel's business "who" is staying in the room and for what reason. As long as the person qualifies and has the money, that is the extent of the hotel's responsibility. What about hotels that unknowingly rent rooms to convicted criminals? To husbands cheating on their wives? To drug dealers? Prostitutes? Sex offenders? Are you going to cry "rip off" on all of those too? Methinks you better invest in a pup-tent as that will be your only lodging option seeing as how ALL hotels operate in the same manner as the one you are falsely accusing of a rip off.
