I signed up w/ Sprint PCS about a year ago. I had to pay for the handset. I was living in Dallas TX at the time attending grad school. When I completed my studies, I moved to home to Florida for a time, and needed to transfer my service. I called Sprint, who transfered me to a company called LA Wireless, who deal with the Louisiana/FL service area.

I spent 9 HOURS on hold. On my Sprint cell phone. I SLEPT on hold. I cooked dinner on hold. My roommates and I took shifts. Finally, when my call was answered, I could barely understand the customer service rep I was given to speak with. But nevertheless, I gave her my info and request, and also informed her that I had been holding for 9 hours. She promised to remove the hourly charges for my time on the phone with Sprint, which never happened, but isn't the ripoff I want to tell you about.

To make the switch to a local number in Florida, I was told I would have to pay a security deposit (which I had already paid in Texas) and that it would be reimbursed. I went ahead and gave them my credit card number, after speaking to 4 different reps for various reasons, with plenty of hold music in between each. It was charged the $125 deposit. TWICE.

To make a VERY LONG story a little bit shorter, I spent another 7 hours in a Sprint PCS store on the little red phone in there, 5 hours and 33 minutes of which were spent ON HOLD. My husband and I ate both lunch and dinner in that store. I was never reimbursed from either charge, and had to file a claim with my bank. Finally, THEY reimbursed the lost funds.

I have a thousand complaints against Sprint PCS, but this seems to be the most major. My contract is finally up in May, and I am dreading all of the extra charges and difficulties they'll put me through in order to cancel. I tell everyone I know to avoid Sprint, and wanted you to know, too.
