SPRINT PCS Roadside Assistance ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE RIPOFF Abingdon Nationwide
Sprint PCS customers should beware of purchasing additional services called "Roadside Assistance." This service is supposedly to guarantee that a tow-truck will be called and your vehicle towed to a local service center with no additional charge. What SPRINT does NOT tell you when you purchase this service is that the Towing bill is only covered for 3 MILES!! The customer is responsible for any additional fees beyond a 3-mile tow.
The people at SPRINT act like this is a wonderful service, and yet they omit telling you that this insurance is only good for 3 miles. Everyone should know this little piece of information--especially those living in rural areas where it takes much longer distances to reach local service centers.
I was not informed of the "3 mile tow" clause until my vehicle broke down and I called for assistance. I asked if they would call the cheapest tow service in town, they did not agree to call the cheapest in town. Apparently they use a "list" of providers which take turns being the "first" on the calling list. I found out about this when I decided to bypass this unhelpful service provided by sprint and called the cheapest tow service in town-which I knew worked with call-service towing such as sprint.
This service could be okay for people in the city or where there are numerous service centers. However, those in rural areas -BEWARE. This is a $4.99 monthly charge that will not help you if you are stranded beyond 3 miles of a service center. You will be the one who pays--not SPRINT. Dont waste your money on this insurance service.
