I am currently Sprint PCS customer whose 2-year service agreement ended in November of 2004. In February of 2005 I went to their website and activated a new 2-year service agreement.

Sprint has an 18 month restriction on the eligibility current customers have towards rebate savings of new phone purchases. Since I was well over the 18 month restriction, I then placed an order for each of the 2 lines currently on my service plan, which were enrolled into the new 2-year contract.

I received an email confirming my new service agreement and equipment purchased within an hour of placing the order. 2 Days later I received an email from their ECare department from a representative who informed me they had cancelled my order and proceeded to explain why, but which I felt failed to provide an accurate and legal explanation.

The next day I walked into a Sprint location where I made the exact same purchase and reconfirmed my new contract. Contrary to their instant rebate advertisement, I was given the required documentation and information for submitting a mail-in rebate, which was mailed and received by Sprint on March 1, 2005.

It was ultimately denied for the reason of it being invalid since I did not reinstate a new contract, even though my documentation confirms me not only meeting that requirement, but all 3 of their requirements.

Manager A store credit of $150 was issued to me on the spot.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Tue, March 15, 2005

Go back to the location where the phone was purchased and the contract was signed. With all the paperwork and supporting documents and request to speak with the store manager. If that person isn't there find out when they will be. Don't deal with any minions. Demand the matter be taken care of then and there or legal action will be taken. A store credit of $150 was issued to me on the spot. I didn't get a $150 rebate check but $150 applied to my account which was about as good. I got to that point after FOUR months. My rebate forms were lost(go back to the store and get new ones, I'd made copies myself), my rebate was turned down, my two year contract wasn't filled out properly, my phone didn't qualify for a rebate, the check's in the mail, the check was lost, the new check will be here, in your hands in two weeks, they never issued a check, I'll have the manager call you. FOUR months of stalling and lies and fraud. Went back to the store and spoke with the "real" manager who issue the credit under threat of legal action, on the spot.
