I got this going on too. Let's be honest. The one who is going to do the blessing/ save your soul/ make you His child, is NOT the Church or the guy running it. It is God.
If these letters re-kindle the most important relationship I will ever have, the one with Jesus Christ, I honestly don't see the harm in sending them a few bucks. I'm so low right now I am honestly willing to give the ridiculous a try. My faith is in God. He told Moses to stretch a stick over the ocean, he told Abraham to do the unthinkable and slay his son (???), he told Jesus to outstretch His arms and die on the cross for all mankind. All were plainly ridiculous to the unbeliever, all of them. The guy sending the letters may well be a charlatan. He is probably sitting back in his love seat sipping a Cognac and giggling to himself at the thought of all those crazy people walking around with pennies in their shoes. Ya know, there are charlatans all over the place nowadays, all for whom their particular twist on the Bible is their livelihood. If because of a charlatan, I regain my faith in the Lord, go out and do great things, and have a few blessings come my way, I know its because its the LORD who is with me. Judge not lest ye be judged.
This is not to say you should send your money to any charity you are not certain of, far from it. Donate to your local food pantry instead, help the people right there in your own community. Thanks for listening.
