Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We purchase couches from Levitz along with the warranty from Stainsafe. A few weeks into the delivery of our couches we noticed the seat cushions would always slide off after literally two or three sittings. Everyday we would have to shove the seat cushions into place. Now my kids and in laws fall off the couches because you cna not gage the extent to which the cushion is off the sofa.

Both levitz and Stiansafe have sent inspectors who have acknolwedge the defect. Both levitz and Stainsafe have declide any repare or better yet REPLACEMNT of the couches. I have letters of correspondence and the inspector reports and yet they choose to be so sly in their dealings. They should be shut down put out of business after they settle all their claims. An we complained about the Martha Stewart case!!!

Stainsafe does not honor warranty and Levitz does not seem to care.

Jake, you need to check your resources before responding. I have a Stainsafe warranty in front of me, it covers rips, tears, burns and punctures in the fabric. Unfortunately, this does not mean that Stainsafe is going to honor the warranty or that Levitz cares what a rip-off this is. I have a broken board on my entertainment center, warranty clearly states breakage. I was told that once I move the object the warranty is void. Unlike some of the people who have responded, I was not allowed to speak with a supervisor or given any information on how to dispute the claim. After contacting the company by e-mail I was told that it was past the deadline to submit a claim, even when their own rep would not let me speak with a supervisor or give me the dispute info. Of course, when you try to contact them on their homepage the screen won't come up. I now have a wine stain on a chair, but I'm not holding my breath that they will resolve the issue. Local Levitz tells me to call customer service, customer service tells me to call Stainsafe who tell me to call Levitz. Just a big circle with no help from anyone.

sounds like you were a victim of poor design

It sounds like you were a victim of poor design, not necessarily a defective product. If the problem exists with the piece on the showroom floor and did not arise from some damage or structural failure, it is due to poor design and will not be covered under the "stainsafe" warranty. Levitz is bound but the contract it has with Stainsafe to only service those customers who stainsafe has approved claims for. Your only option MAY be to find a way to secure the cushions to the sofa with small clips or velcro. That is if your claim continues to be refused. Jake, Stainsafe does offer different programs through its different vendors, and the program offered through levitz is a "stain and structure" warranty. The program covers many different aspects including manufacturing problems and actidental damage caused but the customer. However, if the piece in your home has not suffered either collapsed cushion cores or deck front, and was designed so that the cushions may slide out to easily, you are out of luck.

Your VERY Wrong, You have obviously been mislead by someone

I cant believe that you are going to lie about a stupid warranty. Stainsafe has only one warranty and that covers FABRIC ONLY!!! It does not cover seam seperation, again this would be a defect in workmanship. The part about them continuing the manufaturers warranty, that is rubbish. You are the one who should do your research. You have obviously been mislead by someone, but not stainsafe. Call them up and tell them this. They will laugh at you. Good Luck man.

I have no problem telling you that you are wrong! I am looking at the warranty "Seven Year Stain & Structure Warranty." This warranty states that its coverage includes stains to fabric, leather and even scratches or gouges to wood that penetrate through the laquer finish. Further more, and I quote, "seperation of seams!" Please, just one more quote, "Upon expiration of manufactures warranty, Stainsafe will provide the buyer with the same coverage provided by the manufacturer's warranty up to a total of seven years from date of delivery!" The list of coverage goes on and on. The only thing I can assume is that there are several different StainSafe Warranty service sold through Levitz. I bought this warranty in 9/02. For the fellow who claims to have sold this type of warranty, you need to do your research. I'll be more than happy to fax anyone a copy of the StainSafe warranty I am refering to.

I have read and tried each of the consumer suggestions, I have tried to go to the local Levitz from where I originally purchased the furntiture. I was told by te manager Bert Partiga, none of the claims are in his control it is soleely a customer relations department issue. THey have declined to even acknowledge the defect.............they chose to ignore their own reports. It seems they have reported something diffrenet from what was told to me. Corporate America for you. I don't knwo if I shoudl pursue thi sin court. I just don't like to be treated unjustly.it's so unAmerican to be taken for a ride like this.....we aren't in a third world undemocratic unjust tyrannical regime where these kind sof things stand and are considered the norm........I have live in these countries...I know. I wnat justice. I need a suggestion to ge to Levitz that will expose their deceptive dealings with thier customer. Thanks

Maybe you should have purchased the extended warranty offered by the store

I hate to say your wrong to anyone, but you are wrong! First of all in your original letter you stated that you have not had these very long. Second of all take some time to read your warranty. I am very familiar with Stainsafe coverages, because I sold the warranty for many, many years. They are a FABRIC PROTECTION warranty only! If you have let your 1 year warranty run out offered by the store then you are in a mess. Please dont spend any money with a lawsuit against Stainsafe, it is a waste. They will never have to answer to this. Maybe you should have purchased the extended warranty offered by the store, this is usally a 2 year plan, which makes the total warranty period offered by the store 3 years. That is what this is. It is plain to see that this is a defect in workmanship. NOT A FABRIC ISSUE!!!!!!!! Get it right man.

Stainsafe is not responsible for this.

#13Consumer Suggestion

This is not a Stainsafe claim. This is a manufacturer defect. The store should be the ones to handle this problem. Stainsafe is a Fabric Protection Warranty, and if used properly becomes a wise investment for anyone. Alot of consumers do not read the warranty and are under the assumption that Stainsafe is responsible for anything that might happen to the merchandise. Visit the store you purchased from (do not call).Act like a paying customer and start browsing the merchandise you purchased. Wait for a salesperson to notice you and ask you if you need help. Inquire about their manufacturer warranty. After they tell you what it is, tell him your story. Then ask to speak with a manager. You would be suprised what you will find out as a customer as opposed to a disgruntled ex-customer. Good Luck in your quest, but keep in mind it is not a Stainsafe matter.
