Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I went to buy a laptop at Staples, and I got one that was on sale. The sale only lasted that one day and I was pressed for time so I chose a laptop for $400, and the laptop was left there for them to install the other things I got to go with it. What I got with it was Micfrosoft office $50, Norton internet security $50, and a basic start up kit $100. After getting home and thinking about it, my gut feeling was to get the $200 and just get the laptop...good thing I did. I went back and got just the laptop and when I got home I turned it on. It had miscroft word pad already on it, it already had the basics on there so I have NO IDEA what the basic start up kit is for! What gets me mad is when I was first there I asked if it already had a word processor where it corrects you mispellings (that's all I wanted) and he said you had to get the Microft office to do that. Looking on the internet I also see that Norton isn't a very good anti-virus at all, so I'm glad I went back and got my $200 bucks back, all that money would have been a waste.

My word of warning to all people going to buy a laptop (or anything else that requires a sales person) do your research. When I was there I liked this one laptop but the sales person kept stearing me towards a different one, and if there is a one day sale don't think its a one and only time and buy it. I went back to Staples a day later and there were the same sales going on, and found out that the original price on my laptop kind was changed so that the sale price would look better. Always show that you know what your talking about, I had completely no idea about computers and he saw that and talked me into getting stuff that was useless. So do your research, compair prices, and if you have to tell the sales person to leave so you have time to think DO IT. That sales person was there the whole time and kept hammering about what to get. They also kept running down other competitors, so if your gut feeling is not to trust then don't! Look up on the internet what you need to know before you buy and when you get there buy it, don't let them talk you into getting something else! There aren't many truthful and trusted sales people out there.

Staples is AWESOME! They fixed everything and everything is GOOD now! I'd now recremend going there for office supplies, not only do they have A TON of stuff to pick from the service is GREAT. If they mess something up or something goes wrong they go out of their way to help you out. I don't want to hear any more comments about how this isn't a rip-off report. I kinda relise that now, but at that time I was mad. But I ain't any more :)

Lots of these retail stores offer these add ons to computers.  The software is probably ok, but I don't think those set up services are worth anything.

So, you ordered $200 worth of software and later decided not to buy it.   Where's the ripoff?  Most people are not happy with the word processing programs that come free on computers.   If you're happy, that's fine, but it doesn't constitute a ripoff.

"I asked if it already had a word processor where it corrects you mispellings "

Nice one.   If you had a decent word processing program, it would have alerted you to the error above.

As for the rest, some people say Norton is crap, others say McAfee is crap.  Opinions are like a__holes.  Everybody has 'em and most of 'em stink.   Basic startup kit?  You don't even know what it is, yet claim it is a ripoff.

It's hard to put a lot of stock into your report, since it seems largely devoid of facts that would constitute a ripoff.
