Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Have been a customer for over 25 years.  I insured both my autos and home with them plus I had life insuarance with them.  I was notified this week that my auto policy will not be renewed effective February 25, 2020.  The reason they lsited was due to the number of claims.  I was invloved in an at fault accident on 12-05-2019.  Prior to that my wife and I have not an at fault accident in over 20 years.

The letter list two accidents.  One in 2018 and one in 2019.  There was no claim for the accident in 2018 under my policy.  My son has his own policy.  This was a claim that he filed under his policy.  They are saying because I cosigned for my son, that is counted against me.    My wife was informed by the agent that they will be dropping my son when his policy is up for renewal.

I was told by the gaent that I had accident for giveness under my policy.  I feel that State Fram is unfairly combining these policy together in order to drop coverage on my automobiles.

Because they don't won't my business, I will be dropping my hgomeowners insurance and life insurance policy and taking my business to someone that wants it.  I know they collected more in premuims then they ever payed out in claims in all my years of doing business with them.  By the way the agent tried to talk my wife from not canceling the life insurance policy and homeowers.  I left with no other choice since my homeowners is going to go if I stay with them because I losing my discount for multiple policies.

Apparently they don't live up too their slogan because if they did they would not treat a neighbor like that.

I will no longer recommend State Farm as a good insurance.

..in any way negates what I wrote in my post. Every insurance company measures risk v reward and makes decisions on whose cars to insure by the result they get through that measurement. Your personal situation, your son's personal situation, etc have nothing to do with any insurance company's decision.

You seem to want considerations personal to you to be part of the equation, and they simply aren't going to be. "They have paid more in premiums than they have ever paid out..." well, yes. That's how insurance companies make money. They take on risk. Which means they have to study that risk very carefully.

You don't like their decision concerning the risk you pose. You are moving on to an insurance company that will accept you as a client. This is just business. My personal situation doesn't have anything to do with this, either. Don't worry about my insurance, or my family's.

You aren't going to win me over to your odd way of thinking by making this personal. Business is business. You, me- we are all just numbers on an accounting form to insurance companies. I get that. You'd better learn to accept it; when you do, life will make more sense to you.

My policy state that I had accident forgiveness.  My son policy stated he had accident forgiveness.  His claim was paid out on his policy.  He was told he lost his accident forgiveness at that time and he had to stay accident free for at least 9 years.

I filed my first accident against my policy in 12-2019.  This was an at fault accident in which State Farm only paid out the liabilty portion on the claim and not the collission.  My agent told me had no worry as I had accident forgiveness on this accident.

I understand that they are in business to make money.  I can guarantee that paying auto premiums to them for over 25 years that I paid more then what they dished out for my one claim.

As far as you commented about my son not being able to afford a vehicle on his own was inappropriate because every persons situation is different.  My son is a RN and is financial secure at this time.  When I cosigned for him he had no credit because he was about to graduated from college.  I have never had to pay his car note or his insurance since he got it.  So yes I cosigned for him because he needed some help.  He now has enough credit to purchase one on his own.  So if being a good father is irresponsible, they I guess you are right.

I just hope and pray your children never need your financial help.

He paid for his first used vehicle cash and he needed something more relaible to drive back and forth to school 100 mile round trip and to go to work full-time at different location some up to 100 miles from our home.  Taking a bus is not possible in my area since I not a city dweller.  I live in a small surburban town 35 miles from the closet major town where there is bus service.

Not a ripoff

State Farm didn't refuse to pay a claim. They simply informed you that they no longer consider you or your son an acceptable risk and will not be allowing you to renew your insurance when it expires. The decision to insure is one that each company must make based on risk assessment.

They are all in business to make money, obviously- and they aren't making enough money off of you. That might sound mean, and it might BE mean. But it's not a "ripoff." There are other insurers out there- go find another reputable one (State Farm is reputable) and give them your money. But don't call any who refuse to accept you as a client a "ripoff" because they simply aren't.

Save the term "ripoff" for insurers who promise to cover you and then fail to do so after you've paid premiums. (And yes, because you cosigned for your son, his accident is counted against you. That's the way it works, and it's the reason I would never cosign for anyone.

If your son can't afford his own insurance, he can take the bus until he can.)
