This is to warn all of those who have a quote from State-to-State van lines. DON'T TAKE IT. They are scam artists and will hold your family's possessions in tow while they laugh all the way to the bank.

My situation is similar to a previous posting on this site about State to State. Thank God that he made the effort to post and I found it using the Google search engine. It has prompted me to report it on this resourceful web site. I have a family of four with a 4 and 1 year old. We were moving from a midwest state to a southern state.

Basically what happens is that they low ball estimate based on cubic feet. We carefully filled out the on-line form and had several conversations with a "Relocation Specialist" named Michael Parker at 1-800-994-9609 because we felt the estimate was too ambitious. He then lied about how much cubic feet the van contains. After State-to-State arrived (yes they were over 12 hours late), they started to load our possessions. I questioned about space and cost but they never had answers. They also make you sign the perfunctory contracts that weigh heavily in their favor. BE CAREFUL OF THIS!! After they got done loading our possessions, they calculated the rip off numbers and presented this to us. It was ALMOST 5 TIMES THE ESTIMATE! You must put up half the money at that point (it was 3:30 a.m. and I had a long drive the next day, but it didn't matter to them).

As I sit here at this moment at a Hampton Inn Business Center after a week past the delivery date, I have called many Police Departments, Lawyers, State Attorney's General, BBB, State Senators, etc. to get resolution. State-to-State and Mike Parker have just missed their 3rd delivery date. The agreement was to pay cash upon delivery at rip off prices. I agreed to do that just to get our family's possessions back and to move into our new home; I will litigate re-imbursement through the courts after the fact.

My only hope is to get some of our hard earned money back and to put State-to-State Van Lines out of business so this will never happen to another trusting family again. I hold on to the belief that justice will be done and this company will ultimately be dealt with in the same way that they unmercifully swindled, lied, and conned their way into unsuspecting homes across this great land.

State To State Van Lines (Michael Parker) Ripoff Update

#20

Thu, July 05, 2001

As of today I have paid this company in full for the delivery and have approximately only 40% of my family's possessions. Why didn't deliver all of it? Good question, but no answers from State to State. Michael Parker of State to State Van Lines was a week late in delivery and lied on 5 promise dates. He is now making more promises and is starting to get abrasive. Whenever he talks about the company, he speaks in 3rd person. He never takes responsibility and is the President of the company. Here are the facts.... State to State low-balled the bid in order to get the business. Once they had all of my possessions, the final bill is 4.5 times the quote!! They have been non-responsive, inept, con-artists since they have had possession of our stuff. It has been over a week and we still don't have over 60% of our furniture, washer/dryer, refrigerator, beds, etc. No resolution in sight. There are others who I have been in communication with that have had the same experience we have had with State to State.
