Storesonline are in the UK in full force - In one week they have done 5 seminars in Manchester, Liverpool and London. After attending the free 2 hour introduction seminar I decided to attend the day to gather as much information as possible but with no real intention of purchasing (as I had a feeling it would be overpriced)

Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to do my research on the company before attending the seminar and so could not offer factual information to anyone I spoke to but I did tell people that most of what was discussed there is available online either for free or at a much lower cost! I didn't actually pay any money on the day but did partner up with someone else who purchased 6 sites. On reading the small print and information in the pack found that there will be more to pay before the sites are fully functional!!!

Worst still is the storesonline are working in collaboration with ECI who have partnered with a UK merchant account company to offer a deal at 799 - I found out yesterday that the UK merchant company do their deal at 329!!

I did a search on BetterBusinessBureau.org and found this:

Government Action

StoresOnLine has sold services and e-commerce sites on a non-refundable basis because they defined their product as a business-to-business service. However, many states have re-defined the area of law that distinguishes consumer transactions, from business to business transactions.

In December 2003 StoresOnline altered their refund policy to add a 3-day right to rescind for all new customers. The change in policy was at least in part a pre-emptive response to legal actions initiated by the State of California.

On April 7, 2004 Imergent, Inc., doing business in California as StoresOnline Inc., entered into an agreement to answer concerns raised by the State of California through a Stipulated Final Judgment and Permanent Injunction in Superior Court of the State of California, County of San Mateo.

The primary terms of the agreement require that Storesonline:

a) offer a 3-day right to rescind in a manner prescribed by California law and the agreement,

b) pay $102,333.19 in refunds to 42 purchasers of Storesonline products as identified by the State of California,

c) provide customers a list of all additional and optional services that can be provided at the option of consumers prior to the execution of a contract, and

d) that Storesonline continue to disclose that knowledge of and access to a computer is required to utilize its products and services.

Please Note: During the seminar we were not told about a 3 day cooling off - my partner and I asked for a cooling off period which we were granted! No list of additional/optional services were discussed - in fact when we asked the sales rep about what additional costs we may incurr he clearly said 'nothing else - unless you ever want to purchase another site'.

I thought I should post the London connection here just to let everyone know just how far certain scam artists are willing to go to get rich off of other peoples vulnerability!

Good luck to everyone.

In response to the UK seminars being held by Storesonline: A cooling off time of 3 working days was requested by us before we signed up for the 6 websites. On checking out the information available in the pack (which is just manuals of training information and a cd that enables you to connect direct to storesonline - you could do it without the CD!!!) We realised that we had been overcharged for the entire package as there really are other services out there that will offere equivalent and probably better service. Within our three days, we contacted Storesonline in Utah and explained that we wanted to cancel - they responsed that there 'was not right to cancel', we then mentioned that we had a 3 day cooling off time that was signed by one of their salesmen and at this time they asked us to send in the document and agreement - we asked if they would honour our 3 days a the time of them receiving our papers, considering the delay because we were overseas and they said yes. It was very quick and easy for us - they refunded the money onto the credit within 3 days of receiving our papers! We are wondering if they will take money again on the date that the first installment was due but we are being positive and hope not. We have decided that if we hear about storesonline free seminars, we will attend with photocopies from this (BBB) site and hand them out to people who may be none the wiser about the SCAM! Everyone around the globe needs to do this. Although it does not guarantee money back to those who have already been cheated - it does help to prevent many others getting into the same position AND it will give Scam-online... sorry Storeonline a real shake up which will hopefully lead to them going bankrupt! Good luck everyone.
