STS TIRE & AUTO CENTERS installed oil pan gasket wrong keep leaking oil dont want to fix selden New York
Had STS replace an oil pan gasket on 10/18/12. Paid 171.08 plus $25.00 tip to mechanic. Went only 5 miles and lost a quart of oil. Went to get car inspected at another franchise, the mechanic said the oil pan was leaking, also notice that the started cables were not replaced properly and the cable were burned making the truck hard to start, had to pay another $80.00 to have the started cable replaced.
Went back to STS 11/20/12, they said the leak was from the power steering pump was leaking, front an rear seals also leaking. Told her I had no problem with these before I brought the truck in, she told me to come back in on Monday when the manager was there. Went back again when manager was there, looked at the pan said it wasn't leaking. As soon as I added the proper amount of oil, it started leaking again. Back again, manager looked at it, said he couldn't find the leak again.
Finally got tired of dealing with STS and their "not our problem attitude" and took the truck to another mechanic. Right away he saw the oil pan leak, removed the oil pan found a washer struck between the pan and the gasket causing it to leak. Removed the washer, replaced the gasket, No more oil pan leak or any any leaks. So on top of the original $171.08 I had to laid out an additional $80.00 to replace the started cable that was reinstalled incorrectly, another $130.00 to pay the mechanic to remove and replace the oil pan plus the oil and a new filter.
