Springfield,#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

I had the same experience with Sunoco in Exton, PA. My goal was to take my past experiences, my college degree and a good attitude and work my way up at Sunoco. Sunoco allowed me to move from driver to dispatcher which was a good experience and I was thankful for that. What Sunoco did that really bothered me was constantly hire people who were a. the son of a manager b. the brother in law of a terminal manager c. (it just goes on and on) Perfect story... Three managers in our division were the sons of former upper level managers. (ok-no big deal). one night i was working late night dispatch. my nextel went off..."help, i need help...i was in an accident". I knew one of the drivers were in an accident but I didn't know who it was. The nextel # calling in was one of the floating nextels (meaning anyone could have grabbed it and started their route. I said over and over "respond-what is your truck #? who is this? what is your 10-20?" All i got was "I need help". Then, about 10 minutes later, my new manager called in on that very nextel #. Turns out that Sunoco was having a managers Christmas party and one manager (the guy who was the son of the upper level manager...the guy who got the job instead of me) decided to pull a prank. I was so close to calling 911 because I thought a driver was hurt. The next day I was told that was just boys being boys and they were just blowing off some steam. I like Sunoco and I really had wished that my time there was better spent. The fact is that Sunoco is an old company with old morals and if your daddy was an "ol sunoco boy" then chances are you could be one too. Good company...great product...solid financials...just didn't work for me.
