The gas station either needs to get their credit card terminal programming updated to "truncate" - cut off everything but the last 4 digits - or they need to get a new machine that does allow this if their current one can't do it. Let them know it is now against federal law for a customer's receipt to show all 16 digits and expiration date. When using a thermal printer that prints a customer receipt and a merchant receipt, the MERCHANT RECEIPT CAN have that information as the merchant is required to keep a record of the sale for three years, but the Customer Copy MUST NOT display that data.
