On 2 separate occasions in the past week or so, I have gone to this Sunoco on 17-92 in Winter Park to purchase gas.  Each time I put in $10 of gas.  On the first occasion, I thought it was strange that after leaving the gas station, my gas needle barely moved from the empty line. Eventually, it moved but barely half way to the 1/4 tank mark. Normally $10 will give me at least a 1/2 tank of gas.

Earlier this week, I went back to the Sunoco and put another $10 gas in. The same thing happened. The needle barely made it half way to the 1/4 tank mark.  This morning, I stopped at a gas station near my house, my gas needle was at the same place on empty that it was both times I filled up at the Sunoco.

Out of curiosity, I only put $10 in (note: this station's gas price was $.02 higher than Sunoco's) and when I turned my car on, my needle went all the way up to a 1/2 tank.  When I mentioned this to a co-worker friend this morning, she told me she was on empty yesterday, stopped at the same Sunoco in Winter Park, paid $15 in gas and she barely got a 1/4 tank of gas.

Obviously, this gas station is ripping their customers off by taking their money for gas, but have the pumps set to only give them about a 1/4 of what they are paying for.  With gas prices as high as they are these days, it's sickening that gas stations would do this to their customers ... so beware of this place and go another mile or 2 up the road if you need gas!!

Gas gauges are not designed for the measurements you are trying to make.   Case in point, you claim that at another station, $10 takes you from empty to 1/2 tank.  At $4/gal. that's about 2.5 gallons.   Do you really have a 5 gallon tank?

If you think the Sunoco station pumps are off, the easy (and actually scientific) way to check is to get a 1 gallon container and pump one gallon of gas.     That's what the State regulators do.  Your wild conjecture so far means nothing (actually it proves you don't know what you're talking about).

Although you have clearly done some exhausting scientific testing to prove the gas station is not dispensing enough gas, why don't you contact the state instead? Your state should have a department of weights and measures. They come out and put the little sticker on the gas pumps showing it has been inspected. if they are not dispensing the right amount of gas, the state department will catch them quick. Simply report them.

And what kind of car do you have that you expect 10$ to be half a tank? That's not even 3 gallons of gas. You have a 6 gallon tank? 1/4 of a tank of gas for 10$ sounds a lot more reasonable than 1/2
