Sunrise Digital Centre Ripoff Lied to us and sold us a bogus camcorder London England
My husband and I were vacationing in England when our camcorder was stolen. After we lost all hope of finding it, we searched for a reputable electronics store in London. We found a store on Tottenham Court Road that had everything we were looking for. We had a long conversation with the salesman, in which we told him our sad story about being robbed of our camera. We also mentioned that we were Americans who were just visiting on vacation. He asssured us that our new Sony camera that we were purchasing from him would work on our American television at home. He failed to tell us that there are two different systems in the UK and America, and that the camcorder most certainly would NOT work on any television in America.
When we found out that we could not play back our videos at home, we called that salesman long-distance to find out why he had intentionally deceived us. He claimed that he never told us that it would work in America and that it was OUR RESPONSIBILITY as consumers to know what we were buying. In my opinion, he took advantage of two American tourists who are not very technology-savvy. In order to watch our videos, we have to purchase an expensive converter for 300 more dollars! He absolutely refuses to give us a refund or an exchange, even though the camera is brand-new and we still have the receipt and all of the parts. If you are vacationing in London, be careful about purchasing electronics, especially at the Sunrise Digital Centre!
