Sunset Engineering Construction Alejandro Merlano, Marsela Merlano Osorio, Fabio Osorio, Alejandro Osorio, Sunset Building Solutions Horrible Contractors and Engineers Miami, Florida
I contracted Alejandro Merlano for the design and construction of my home. Big mistake. I was sold a bag of goods. I was told he was an engineer. Yea! Whatever. The guy knows how to draw on CAD. That's about it. He seems to be an engineer in Colombia. However, upon looking into him and his company. He is not an engineer in Florida or the United States. He uses some outside wash-up engineer to sign his drawings. Later he uses his Contractors lic. to B.S. you into he is a one stop shop. He doesn't even have employees. There all just family. The four of them. I have come to find out that they have come under massive financial problems due to the fact they cannot complete on of many jobs that have taken on. I have filed a formal report with the BBB. I suggest you do also. Take a moment and look up there company there. I believe they have a C- rating. it should be and F. Never the less, I am out a ton of money. I do have a list of empty promises and bull to go with that. I don't understand how they do what they say theyre going to do with no remorse. There are no values here. It's all smoke and mirrors. I have just found out that this guy is also in the Army. We have sent a letter to the Army and hopefully they will also react. here is the information for them:

I strongly suggest that you inform them of all his miss conduct or unprofessional activity. If he was in uniform when you meet him, please make sure that you mention this in your letter. He always says the same thing. "As an officer of the Army, I always do the right thing". O.K.......what a joke. As far as Marsela, good luck. She is above and better than everyone. She can't even speak English. yet she is also an owner. She says and says the men are on their way. They never come and she always has an excuse. This company is a joke. Her brother is the foreman. o.k!!!! Another Colombian that can't speak English. Yet he runs the job sites. All the sub-contractors that they use don't speak much English either. Not to mention no licenses nor insurance. Yet these guys are exempt by the state. So let's get this right. You contract them. Someone gets hurt. Guess what? Your (homeowner) paying any and all medical claims. This is wrong. I have also filed a complaint with the State of Florida Office of Professional & Business Regulations. There web address is www.myfloridalicense.com/DBPR/ . Please report all misconduct on the company and there owners to everyone. I will not give up until justice is served. I have worked too hard for my money for them to come and abuse of me.

Ms Paula W. you are the owner of Sunset Engineering Construction llc, currently you work with Alejandro Merlano GC license, because you held only a Cosmetologist license. Your company hasn't any Engineering or Architecture business license.
It means you perform construction work without professional supervision. Alejandro Merlano as you say doesn't supervise any work, nor any other licensed professional. You haven't any. You just USE his license.
You are unlawfully adversting your company as construction, engineering and architecture services provider. If you have personnel with such "experience" as you say, publish their name and license status. This is the way licensed professionals advertise their services.
I don't see named any Architect, Engineer, or General Contractor in your webpage. This is very curious, a construction company headed by a cosmetologist. You are just a trade, stucco laborer, with bad quality performance.
I suggest you to refrain to offer professional services without license and without knowledge. It is my right as licensed Architect to protect my profession and my obligation to protect the society from people like you and your company. I also suggest you to remove photos of our building, you published without our consent. You need our authorization to do so.

The ownership of the company referenced in the subject report has changed as of May 1, 2014. The new Management areas of construction are restoration of older building and waterproofing & painting of all types of commercial buildings.
We were aware of the subject report when the company was bought, but were informed by the previous Owners that this and two other reports appearing in this website were made by the same person as a vendetta against the company. It is true that the previous Owners had some financial difficulties caused by an employee who stole deposit moneys from them causing some delays in the completion of some Projects, but in the end every ongoing Project yhe company had at the time was completed at no extra cost to their respective Clients.
Anyway the old Ownership/Management fo Sunset Engineering Construction, LLC has nothing to do with the New Ownership/Management and the areas of interest are completely different, where the previous incarnation of the company performed residential work, the company now, after the sale, specializes in commercial work.
