While vacationing in Cancun, at the Sunset Lagoon, I had to attenend a promotion for timeshare in the Sunset Group, I was not going to buy anything because I dont really need a timeshare, BUT the sales person explained to me that they (the Sunset Group) was going to rent out my time share for 1700 dollars a year, and that the time share would increase in value by 10% a year. That is one heck of an investment! Well, after a long (2-3 hr) promotion, I signed a contract, for the investment purpose. I also had to sign a waiver that said I cannot cancell the contract within the 5 day cancellation period.

The next day I had serios second thoughts and tried to contact them to cancell anyway, anyhow, they didnt include that waiver in my contract! They just made me sign it and then never gave me a copy!

The rest of the days of my vacation I spent trying to reach somebody to cancell the contract, but NOBODY was able to help me! Half of the phone numbers I had been given, were dissconnected, and when somebody did answer, every time, they dissconnected me!!

I finally got a number for A mr Hector Tornell of the legal department, it had now been over a week, and I was home again.

I did not get through to Mr Tornell yet though, I talked to his assistant, Diana Hernandez, and she was not able to help me.

It took an additional week for Mr Tornell to returne my call.

Guess what he told me? "The 5 day cancellation period had passed" I tried to explained to him about the dissapearing act of his company, and he resorted to yelling at me, and threatening to sue me for the paymeent in full. He was going to take me to court here in California he said.

I'm gonna skip ahead here, to make the story shorter.

I had to send him the money, for fear of getting sued, but Mr tornell told me that i could sell it when if was paid in full. I paid in full, and told Mr Tornell that I am going to sell. That is when he tol me that "Here in mexico there is this law that says you cannot sell right away" I asked him to see a copy of that law, and for the phone numbers to the company brokers. He gave me a number that has been disconnected, and never gave me copy of that "law". I have not been able to reach him since.

The Sunset group cannot rent the timeshare for the promised 1700 dollars, ( that contract also mysteriously dissapeared), nor can i sell it back to tham like they promised.

They took my money with promises of services, all of wich have been broken. They have 28,000 dollars of mine, and i want it back!

I would like to ask you how your issued here were resolved. I too have been dealing with Hector Tornell and he only calls or emails back when he sees fit. I have been trying to get somewhere with this company for about 7 months now and legal action has started. Please post how you two have come to an agreement. We offered him to keep our deposit and forgo any dealings with them in the future and they would not agree stating that it is too late to cancel, however they cancelled half of our contract, but won't budge on the other half. Now we want all of our money back. They answere emails when they see fit and not in a timely manner but expect us to agree upon certain things within 2 days. That is not how it works. If you can shed any light on this we would really appreciate it. Jena, Belmont, North Carolina U.S.A.

This was a misunderstanding about their membership programs, and all has been resolved in an amicable way!
