While on vocation in Mexico, my wife and I purchased both a Resort and Equestrian membership with Sunset Lagoon. On our return to the states two days later, we decided that we did not really need the Equestrian (Yacht Club) membership, and decided exercise our option as provided in the contract to cancel this portion of the membership. I attempted to contact Sunset Group regarding cancellation of the

contract. However, Sunset Group refused to return my phone calls or

answer my e-mails

When I finally got on to one Mr Alverez,they kept giving us a run around stating that they will get back to us. They finally got back to us about 8 weeks later, with the following email" CLUB LAGOON BEACH Y MARINA S.A DE C.V

 

Dear Mr. Baptiste:

Membership 32-2-1390

 

Good afternoon, I hope that you are having an excellent day.

Regarding your cancellation request for the Yachting & Equestrian

membership, allow me to inform you that like I explained you via telephone, our

Board of Directors authorized me offer you the total

cancellation of the

membership if you pay the Resort Membership in full (25-1-13828).

 

Please, see the promotion attached.

The promissory note that you have signed was for the 30th of November. Was not applied because we are working with a cancellation.

 

I will appreciate your response to this e-mail in

order to show in the Board of Directors your answer.

The promissory note that he mentioned in his email is the

same one which stated that I can cancel the contract within the given

time. I have also been unable to reserve or use the timeshare that I am now out $13,474.00

The final straw is that they have reported my wife to the credit bureau which

resulted in her security clearance being revoked. This have in turn placed her

job as an Army Officer in jeopardy.

Any parties with information regarding pursuing a class action law suit, please contact me immediately.If you have any further information regarding Sunset Group, I would be interested as well.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront.
