Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We went with sunshine van line after finding them through movers.com. They gave us an estimate of $2,600,  came to load up the truck on August 2nd, and charged us over double of what the estimate was. They originally told us we could pay with credit card and took our credit card number for the deposit prior to the move; but when payment time came on moving day, the movers said they only accept check or cash- which is hard to come up with when you're paying well over double what you are quoted. They also failed to inform us during the estimate write up that the size of box does NOT matter, as we thought- it is simply based off number of items. So our huge dresser was essentially the same as our broom that they packed. Also, we found AFTER the movers loaded our belongings that we also could have kept our drawers loaded- which would have saved a HUGE amount of space in the moving van.  I got the money situation taken care of and when I was writing the check, the driver told me to make it out to cash. After a long argument, he finally gave me the name of a company to make it out to. After that, he hassled me about giving his guys tips, wanting an extra 200 dollars since they "don't get paid" for loading the truck. They then asked us to confirm a  date for delivery now, we told them we want it there on Wednesday the 4th of August, 48 hours later, which was previously discussed. Of course, they said they can't make that date and could deliver on the 5th before 4 pm.  It is now Monday, the 9th of August and they still can't give us an exact time of when they can get here. To add insult to injury, when I tried to contact them on the day our items were supposed to arrive, not only could they not tell me when our stuff would arrive, but they weren't even sure where it was!  Additionally, the company is telling us we need to pay the final 20% of $600 in ONLY cash upon delivery. If it was a legitimate company, we would be able to AT LEAST pay by check! Just since the movers packed up our stuff on the 2nd, we have spoken with three individuals with sunshine, all of which could not help and informed us that the date "guarantee" is not guaranteed at all, as stated in"small fine print on the back of the contract." Great customer service.

NOW, once our items arrive, over half of our boxes are smashed, all three dressers (as well as the headboard) have broken legs, one mattress was ROLLED up and taped- completely destroying all coils, a tv stand smashed, and half of an entire collection of antique National Geographic magazines smashed. We have over 190 photos of destroyed or damaged items. To go into detail would simply take entirely too long. But we also have before photos to compare our items and boxes to.  And this isn't even the entire story, simply the condensed version for time constraints!!  We are getting a lawyer, filing this complaint, and also possibly a complaint with movers.com. My fiance works for the DOD and was a civilian out at Joint Base Mcguire-Dix-Lakehurst, I will be contacting there personnel at TMO to make sure they don't fall for the same scam as we did. Of course, now that this has happened, we searched the Internet and found numerous, almost identical, encounters with this ridiculous company.

To add insult to injury, the address listed on their website is apparently incorrect. http://www.sunshinevanline.com/index.html  We have already contacted the Better Business Bureau, and they have since made us aware that the complaint they tried to mail to the company has been returned. Also, their phone line work about 70% of the time. We originally thought the phones had all been disconnected, but eventually were able to get through to someone. The funny part is that NO SUPERVISOR exists- every time we try and speak to a manager or owner or supervisor, they are always "unavailable" or "out of town" or has "just stepped out"- and this is after MULTIPLE days and attempts to reach ANYONE besides the person who answers the phone. Our contact person is Janet (no last name), and can (sometimes) be reached.
