Suntrust Bank charged me $256.00 in bank fees for inadequate funds when I had a direct deposit that would go through at midnight that night for more than $2000. My direct deposit has been going into that bank account for over four years at the same intervals. The fees exceed the amount of money that I was supposedly short. When I asked fo a refund, they agreed to only $96.00 of the money they took from my account.

I am a single parent with basically no savings... and they just ook my money. They basically took money that I pay for child care and food for my son.

I talked to a customer service representative via the 1-800 number and I went directly to the bank the next day. No one would help me and I have been banking with this company for almost fifteen years.

I am so devastated by this. I feel completely victimized. They might as well have held a gun to my head and stole my money. that is what it feels like... and their cold, hard treatment of me afterwards -"it is your fault mam"....- is simply unacceptable.

I found myself just heaving in tears after they took this money from me -wondering how I was gonna cover my expenses for the next several weeks. It is an endless cycle they set you up for.. This is wrong and evil and Suntrust has to be made accountable for ripping off its customers by taking their money like this.

And You Thought It Was Bad Before

This is just a word of warning. I've heard of the NEW banking system that is going to be taking effect. Either Bank 21 or Tech 21 or something like that. For all those folks out there who write checks a day or 2 before there is money in their account. The new system is kind of like an auto draft on your account. My understanding is that say you were to write a check to sears and they deposit your check into their bank. Your check is now going to be automatically withdrawn from your account. Not sent to your bank, for collections to be credited to sears account. Instead of having a few days float like in the old days you'll be lucky to have at the most 1 or 2 days max. Alot of the posts, on this site, are about banks and their excessive overdraft/NSF fees. If you thought it was bad before, you ain't seen nothin yet. The really bad part of this deal is that there is not suppose to be any difference when it comes to deposits. The banks still have their 3,5,10 and up to 14 days, hold, to credit your account, to give you, your money. It's interesting that it is only going to work one way, in the bank's favor. If you thought you've seen alot of people post about bank fees before, just wait. You'll see one heck of alot more, once this new system kicks in. I don't know how much of this info is accurate so if anyone out there knows the full scoop, let us know.
