On December 9, 2003, a sales representative from Superior Benefits contacted me by phone to offer the following approved credit card:
1. A Visa credit card in the amount of $6500.00
2. Requiring a $300.00 non-refundable deposit (one time fee)
3. No annual fee or membership fee.
4. The credit card would arrive in 2 to 4 weeks.
5. Company authorized to debit my checking account: December 16, 2003.
On January 27, 2004, I spoke with customer service representative John Thompson and manager Paul Wienrich who notified me of the actual terms of the sale. Below please find these terms:
1. A visa card up to 2,000
2. A non-refundable $300 deposit
3. One credit re-builder packet, with information required to sign and return to the company, then in about 2 weeks after submitting this information I would receive a credit card.
4. No monthly or annual fees
5. Credit increases given after paying bill on time
6. 4.9%-8.9% fixed APR
I immediately requested the contract to be made void and to have my money refunded due to this misrepresentation. Both employees denied my request. Each stated that I was just angry because I hadn't received my credit card yet. Each employee noted that I was stupid for believing the sales representative could issue a $6500 credit card. The manager, Mr. Wienrich, refused to provide the name of his supervisor and kept me on hold for 7 minutes, only to click over to tell me the office was closing before he hung up the phone.
