These guys are on a roll. I just read another complaint right before I wrote this. I initially spoke with Brian Wilson. He called me through Lending Tree. He beat the other rate offers and I now know why. I am a mortgage broker in Arizona. I can't do my own loans so I decided to use Lending Tree. I started the process on approx. Dec. 10, 2007.

The process started out fine. It was like any other loan. I signed an app and Good Faith Estimate. I asked him to lock in the loan. On the GFE I should point out that he was not charging me any origination. The rate was 7.375%. It wasn't a bad deal.

It was fine until 2 weeks in when Brian sent me a new Good Faith to sign. Why would I need to sign a new GFE? I only send GFE's out in my business when the loan has changed let's say from a fixed to an adj. Let's just say he now had 1% origination fee which was crazy. The rate was now 7.5%. He tells me that it will change once it closes. Trust me when I say that is all non sense. So, there is the 1st red flag. I need this done badly. So I stay with him.

So, it takes another month and a half to get the appraisal worked out because I needed to get a permit for upgrades I did. Well, now Brett Berg starts calling me as the manager. At this point in Jan. he hasn't said that Brian no longer works there. He just talks about this appraisal condition. That is fine. Well, I should say it is fine until they decide not to call me ever.

Now, fast forward 2 weeks and I decide to start calling them again. This was now Jan. 28, 2008.It takes 2 days to get a hold of Brett the manager. He tells me Brian is no longer working there. Convenient, but I don't care. Where is my loan?

This is where he passes the buck. He acts surprised that Brian didn't talk to me. Oh yes, by the way, we can't do the stated income anymore for mortgage brokers. Never mind that they probably could never do the loan. So, I keep calling the next few days to have them do the refi under my wife's name because she is a realtor. He decides not to call back. He will email maybe once every other day at 6 am. However, no calls to give me straight answers.

Keep in mind I am in the business just like them. I know how crucial customer service and honesty are. Surepoint has neither. Not even the manager could offer that, which tells me that it is not practiced by others there, as well.

If you need a loan done, DO NOT go through Surepoint Lending. I call tell you from experience and from owning my own mortgage company that they do not do it right. Not even close. With my complaint and the other that I read, it is obvious that they are not honest people. I hope this helps your decision.

We receive over 100,000 applications a year, and as you can see, the number of complaints is very low in comparison. Brian Wilson left the company during your loan process. Due to confidentiality, we cant go into details on your situation, but the terms of the loan can change throughout the process due to qualifications, or trying to meet a customer's requests. I spoke with Brett Berg, and he states the two of you did speak and discuss your loan and what restrictions we had. In addition, with the industry so volatile right now, underwriting guidelines can change without much notice. I'm sure you see the same, being in the business yourself.
