Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I paid $17,800.00 to have a pool installed by swimmingpoolnow.com. Their installer, Ed Mara, came to the house and collected the money up front. $13,300.00 was collected via check and $4,500.00 was charged to my credit card by his partner, Boris Blank, over the phone. When I finally realized that no pool was forthcoming, I contacted swimmingpoolnow.com, and Mike Gensey, V.P. of the company, told me that Ed Mara ripped them off and has nothing to do with their company- and that I signed a contract with Ed Mara, not with them. They also offered to install a pool for $17,495.00 without cement or a winter cover- with $11,000.00 up front. However, Ed Mara would have never darkened my doorstep if it was not for their website, and the installation is supposed to be by the manufacturer, acccording to their website. Well, this is now a criminal and civil matter. My lawyer and police think this company is a big scam, and Ed Mara and this company are in cahoots. Stay away from this company!!!

As I said before, I did not knowingly sign a contract with Ed Mara, and I do not feel that I should have to pay an additional $17,500.00 on top of the $17,800.00 that I have already paid to have a pool put it. This installer came to my house because of YOUR website. I did not even know his last name until recently. In addition you took a $4,500.00 payment via credit card from me. I don't care what company you charged it to, you all intermingle funds and use these websites interchangeably. I did not know the credit card payment was not going to swimmingpoolnow.com... I was never told that - it was charged to CEO Boris Blank's halloween costume company, which I only found out when the credit card bill came. What kind of "deal" are you going to offer me? Why not put it on the web for all to see? My 7 year old little girl is heart broken because of this...I am out $17,800.00 and no pool! Do not trust this website, folks...they sent a known criminal to my house who stole my money, and then they don't want to help me other than to take more money from me-and they wanted me to pay the money up front with certified funds! By law, a contractor only gets 1/3 of the monies up front. Do you want to rob me again?

The pool package you wanted does cost near $30K. We have negotiated the deal with the manufacturer on your behalf to do it much less to fit your budget. It is the manufacturer (Water World Pools) who you needed to pay for completion of the work and not to us.
You did pay $4,500 via credit card and I believe you were aware that SPN doesn't except credit cards, and that we could help you by using our other company to charge your card to which you AGREED! Also the whole for the pool had been dogged out and prepared for the pool installation (excavator & labor cost). Your permit just got issued a week ago. So the next step was to put the pool in. For some reason you have decided to stop the process and now splattering our name in the bad way.

You need to come down and allow us to take care the issue to your satisfaction! I am positively sure we can find the solution which will work for you best! Please contact us or allow us to contact you for further discussions!

Your solution to fixing my problem is for me to pay you $17,500.00- with $11,000.00 up front in certified funds. No company has ever asked me to do that before! What nerve you have! I did not knowingly sign a contract with another company, you all have a bunch of internet companies that are used interchangeably- in fact I paid part of the swimming pool costs to the tune of $4,500.00 to CostumeSelection.com (CEO Boris Blank's company), and I certainly did not have a contract with them either. It is actually a Halloween costume website. You also told me that Ed Mara was a partner in Swimminpoolnow.com at one point. Anyway, the police officer I am dealing with and my lawyer think you are all in cahoots with Ed Mara. Even when you thought I had signed a contract with swimmingpoolnow.com, you claimed you weren't responsible. See you in court! In fact, my husband will have the pleasure of meeting Boris at the civil hearing in Monroe county. And I told the Attorney General everything that happened...including the $4,500.00 that was taken by Boris Blank...he found all of that very interesting. I guess you have a bit more involvement than being just a middleman when you take a credit card payment from someone.  And don't you screen your installers/employees before using them? Ed Mara has a criminal record, plus he is all over this website.

Quick facts:
Contract has been signed with Ed Mara
Payment has been made directly to Ed Mara
Ed Mara is not part of SPN

We are a referral company and at that time served as a middle man between the customer and manufacturers or installers. We cannot be responsible for any and all actions between the customers and installers if the customer decided to sign the contract with contractor directly.

After the fact SPN offered Lisa Ayad (the owner of this post) help by contacting Water World Pools (manufacturer) to provide the quote and then corresponded that quote to Lisa Ayad, and its Water World Pools who sets the deposit amount, not SPN.

Note to Lisa Ayad: We got aware of this incident about a week ago and communicated with you that we will help you to resolve this matter, and instead you have decided to write this post! In this case we are as victims as you are!
