TCF Bank really sucks, this is meant in various ways but primarily they suck up all your money in fees.

Did you know that TCF bank will accept any charges coming against your account even if those charges do not belong to you? This has happend to me twice in the last six months. In both instances I had to be the one to catch the error and inform the bank. The bank's solution to this problem was "well it certainly seems that your account information is comprimised and we suggest that you close your existing account and reopen an new account". To close and open accounts takes alot of work on the consumer's part considering automatic payments and scheduled direct deposits - all of these type items would have to be changed, and changes increases the chance of errors.

On the lastr charge it threw me into an overdraft on the account. One thing TCF is extreemly good at is that they had the OD charges set up to  bill me $37 immediately. Their concern is more for fees than customers.

The first bad charge was for someone's trash hauler's bill. The bank received the charge, could not read the account number and guessed at mine - which was wrong for the $68 charge.

The second was some girl's second mortgage payment for $450.

I look at the bank balance each morning on a daily basis. Sometimes I cannot figure out what the bank has done with some of the funds, it seem like they put all the numbers into a bag at night, shake the bag up and then pour out the numbers for the next day. About once each month I get lost in trying to reconcile what transacted from yesterday's ending balance to today's opening balance.

You refused to follow the bank's security policy of closing the account so you do not have a valid complaint.
