Team, Ripoff Rental agreement bait-and-switch Durham North Carolina
My wife and I moved to a Team, Inc. property in January of 2005. We were paying more in rent than we would have liked, but we enjoyed the location and the building quality. We asked to sign a lease for an 18-month term. Our leasing agent said that they could not issue anything for longer than one year. I expressed my deep concern that after one year they could raise the rent. The agent assured me that the rent would not increase or that if it did change, the change would be minimal. Two months ago we were informed that our rent was increased by more than $500 per month! Please, please, please do not fall for this scam. Needless to say, we feel deceived by their sales practice when they were trying to fill a half-empty apartment complex.
