March 2010 I purchased a 2003 Saturn Vue from Teds Used Cars. Before purchasing I asked Jim to check to see if the recall was done on the known transmission problems with this model. I knew about the tranny problems and the recall from a friend owning same make and model. I specifically told Jim I would not buy this vehicle if the the recall was not done. I was told it was done by him. When I purchased the Saturn it only has about 75000 miles on it. Within 10 months from buying, the tranmission is slipping and was told it would have to be changed. I spoke to Jim and the mechanics there and was told they could put another transmission in but it would be used one and it would cost me close to 3 grand. I shopped around and to put in a new transmission would cost 5000-6000. I was told by Jim and many others at Teds to bring it in so they can fix. How do you expect me to do that when I am (1) working 2 states away and (2) I am not gonna put a used one in knowing the tranny track record with this type of car and needing a reliable car to commute. I got so tired of Teds giving me the run around about the tranny. I told them that I was going to voluntarily surrender the car and to come pick it up because I was two states away working and I would not have a repossesion on me. They were fine with that.

While waiting for them to come get the car the transimission completely dies and is no longer drivable. It took them about 2 week to get the car. I did my own research after they picked up the car and found out that the tranny recall was NOT!! done. Jim lied all along. If only i knew before I bought the car. I bought a car from them before buying the Saturn and never really had an problem. Thinking after a year of the Saturn going back to them I would finally purchase a brand new car. Come to find out that I was denied because Teds Used Cars put a repossesion on my credit. It was never a repossession, it was a voluntary surrender. It should of never been on there. Now I can't buy a car or anything because they screwed up my credit so bad now and I was told it could take up to 7 years for it to be removed also. They lie just to get you to buy the car and try to use crappy used parts to fix the cars. I will never buy a car from them again.

Please send me all your money because you are just going to make one stupid decision after another.  Someone else is going to end up with your money so it might as well be me,

Why would a used car salesman know whether a recall has been completed?  From what you wrote you were able to verify whether the recall had been done but you did not bother to do that until AFTER you let them take the car back.  Did it ever occur to you to take the car into a Saturn dealer where they could have confirmed whether the recall was done?

Whether it was voluntary or not, you failed to hold up your end of the bargain by allowing the seller to repo the car.  By your own admission, the car was no longer driveable when you gave it back and it was two states away from their place of business.  Just why would expect them to not ding your credit?  After what it cost the seller to fetch your dead car. then repair it, and sell it they got only a fraction of what you owed.

A voluntary surrender is a reposession

You seem to be confused about the term "voluntary surrender."  It means "repossession."
When you told them to come and get the vehicle because you were surrendering the car, it is/was considered a repossession.  I don't know where you get the idea that the car dealer is responsible for repairs after purchase, but no dealer is responsible for your vehicle maintenance after your purchase unless you have it in your contract/warranty agreement in writing

You gave the vehicle back, now you are responsible for the balance due for any deficiency on the note.  You would not have a repo on your credit if you had chosen to pay cash for the car instead.  You chose to buy this particular car. And you chose to finance the vehicle. Those are two different actions. The financing has nothing to do with the purchasing and maintenance aspect of any vehicle. If you can't afford to pay for the vehicle AND the maintenance, then don't buy one.

No, I don't work for this dealer or any dealership. But I do read my contracts before signing anything.
