I am a mortgage broker in Minnesota. My company, Birchwood Mortgage, paid Teleten Marketing of Los Angeles $3,000.00 by Federal Express for 140 mortgage leads, 30 weekly. The representative I dealt with on the transaction was Ken Lewis. Ken stated that if the leads did not meet our parameters that were agreed upon before the transaction that they could be returned and credited.

The telemarketing campaign began the last week of January 2004. To this date, we have only received 24 leads, two we actually have spoken to and the rest we have been unable to contact. During this time, we have received many leads that had incorrect information, have already or were just about to refinance and sent to us twice, three times & even four times.

During the campaign, I have had difficulties with Teleten returning our phone messages. I have spoken with different account representatives that said they would take care of it. First someone by the name of Sheila, then Robert Lee, then back to Sheila, then Brian Brown and recently Louisa. April 15th, I had a telephone conversation with Louisa.

At that time I expressed by displeasure had asked for the remaining money back. Louisa said that she would speak to Brian Brown about it. After not hearing back from anyone at Teleten, I faxed letter to Louisa, Brian Brown and supposedly the owner, David Alexander, to each of them to three different fax numbers I have for Teleten. In the last three weeks, Brian has left one phone message for me.

I have left many phone and fax messages for Brian and Louisa, only to receive a fax response from Louisa last week stating that Brian is suppose to be handling our account now. When I call and someone from Teleten answers, I get put into Brian's voice mail. When I ask for Brian and not the voice mail, he's always in a meeting, at lunch or not in.

I've also been doing some research on the internet about Teleten. It seems there are a lot of unhappy people in my industry that have been swindled by Teleten. The most interesting websites I found were:

I have spoken to a mortgage broker in Louisiana and two other brokers by email, all having the same problems with communication, lead quality and numbers. Some brokers on the websites have stated that they have received some of their money back (in installment payments), but only after making complaints with local government agencies.
