Complaint Review: Teresa Fugeman - Rush Kentucky

This is one of the most dishonest breeders in the country.  She lies and gives false impressions to make herself look like a reputable breeder.  She is a small time backyard breeder who is not what she wants you to think she is.  She breeds for profit only and will rip you off in a heartbeat.  She has taken advantage of several of my friends with all her lies and bogus information. She looks for people who are naive and do not ask a lot of questions.  She puts on a front like she is a respectable breeder and sends out a lot of friend requests on Facebook to other breeders so that she looks like she is a part of the crowd. The truth is most breeders do not even know her and if they do they want nothing to do with her. 

She has two male dogs although she will want you to think she has many male champions.  She does not own a male that she bred. She buys older dogs from other breeders to use for breeding. She owns only 2 females and she breeds the one female every single heat cycle with this same dog called EJ.  She is fully aware that the this dog has eye issues and will more than likely produce offspring with the same problems, but she will not stop breeding him.  These two dogs she breeds over and over will produce beautiful puppies and it’s easy to fall in love and forget to ask pertinent questions about health guarantees and genetic issues that are in her lines.  No one said this breeder does not produce nice puppies.

The puppies are nice,  it’s the breeder that you should avoid.  Once she has your money, she will only respond when you have positive things to say.  If you have any questions about the health of your puppy…if you even insinuate that your puppy is not perfect in every way… and present her with an issue, she will attack you. She will insult you and accuse you of hurting the puppy. She will slander you on social media to cover up what she knows is truth.  Her health guarantee is weak if you even get one. It’s for one year and it covers only life threatening illness. She will not cover or pay for anything else….even the cherry eye your puppy will more than likely get from the father who has had to have numerous corrective surgeries to fix it.  

Most of the time she will not send out your paperwork and will say she forgot to send it.  You have to constantly contact her for registration, shot records, health guarantees. When she does send the health guarantee, you will see that it is worthless.  It will state that if your puppy is covered ONLY for a life threatening illness and that you will need to give the puppy back so she can destroy it. She knows you will opt to spend thousands of dollars to get your puppy well rather than allow that.

Bottom line, this is a small time breeder who pretends to be someone she’s not. She charges top dollar for puppies that are from parents that are not health tested. The price she charges will be based on your vulnerability.  She has charged people as high as $2000 a puppy if she knows there is a heartache where someone has lost a beloved pet. She will tell you she has to hand deliver the puppy to your home and charge you extra for delivery. She will tell you the puppy will be a champion and her price is higher even though she knows there is no way to tell at that age. She will tell you that she wants to keep one the puppy you want but if you “really want that one” the price will go up substantially.  She will change her story and her price with every buyer.  Dealing with her is a nightmare. There are far too many puppies out there from honest breeders to have to deal with this con artist.

There is proof of four different eye surgeries on file for this sire from his previous owner.

This breeder is well known as being a backyard breeder. She does not disclose issues in her lines that may effect the offspring of her dogs.  As a matter of fact she continues to breed the same two dogs every time the female is in season with the same dog that has had several eye surgeries for different issues, including Cherry Eye.  I personally know the buyer of this puppy and I know how severe his issues are.  This breeder paints such a sweet picture of how she delivered the puppy and how healthy he was.  Don't be fooled...she charged a lot of money to deliver this puppy along with her normal high cost of a puppy. She knew this puppy was the runt of the litter that needed to be hand fed and she also knew he had potential for immune deficiency disorders. She never informed this buy of any issues that might come up in the future.

While this puppy may have appeared healthy there were underlying issues that surfaced only three weeks later.  The owner simply reached out to Teresa Fugeman to ASK what she needed to do about some redness in his eyes.  Instead of trying to help her, the breeder immediately got defensive and began to make terrible accusations. She then blocked all communication...something she is notorious for when you approach her about any issues with her puppies. That made it difficult to contact the breeder about anything and the owner felt she was on her own.  The situation got worse and she took the puppy to the emergency room. 

They scheduled him for surgery as soon as they could but the situation continued to get worse in that the puppy became blind. He was lethargic, refusing to eat and drink and vomiting if any food was introduced.  The surgery was performed and he was sent home to recover. He did not recover.  Later, he could not even open his mouth wide enough to yawn. He continued to be lethargic and he was in great pain.  Back to the emergency room again and it was decided that the puppy had a very week immune system that gave him difficulty in recovering.  He was diagnosed with possible neurolgical issues as well as an abcess behind his eyes. He was put on medications and stayed on them for the next three weeks.  This buyer continued to reach out for help and the breeder continued to insult and defame her character.  She refused to speak to the buyer which meant she was NOT honoring the health guarantee and was in breech of the contract.  Many visits to the ER and vet and over $4500 later, she now has to visit a leading Opthamologist to determine the future of this puppy's eyes.

I know this breeder well. I know what kind of business she runs and how she manipulates the naive and vulnerable.  She is a backyard breeder who clones puppies with the same two dogs over and over again. She is a con artist and leads people to beleive she is a well known breeder who shows dogs and wins Championships.  She is a nobody and simply sends friend requests to every breeder out there to make herself look good.  She has not been in a show in 30 years if ever. She chooses her buyers carefully, looking for the heartbroken who have recently lost a pet.  She is a nobody. I know because I have purchased two puppies from her. I was also one of those people who didn't know any better but found out later.

She produces beautiful puppies and if you're lucky you will get a puppy without health or temperament issues. But let something go wrong and she will assault your character and shame you all over the Internet. She will block all contact with you. She did that to me when I simply asked questions about my puppy's aggressiveness.  She has issues in these lines...not only for eye issues passed on by the Sire, but aggression passed on by the Mother.  The problem is she knows it and says nothing.  There are many of her puppies out there with no issues at all and there are others out there that have issues. You will rarely see one of her puppies older than 3 years old so who knows what developes later. 

Bottom line, people are beginning to find out about the real Teresa Fugeman and they need to be very careful.  You may get a healthy and beautiful puppy or you may experience the same heartache that this buyer now has.  Don't take the risk.  It's not worth it.

 I am the Breeder of this beautiful puppy sold to PAM Jeans. This puppy had a full health well check the day before i personally delivered the red/white male puppy to Pam Jeans of Minnesota about a 12 hour drive to be sure this baby boy arrived healthy an safely. Puppy had a wonderful health check the Veterinarian listed everything on the health certificate that he checked on this puppy from head to toes. He gave this baby boy a clean bill of health. Also listed was his eyes there was no health issues. This puppy was delivered to Pam Jeans she an her husband spent over an hour with the puppy holding an playing with him in the grass they were so excited an happy with him. My husband an I also spent the night then returned home the next afternoon. For weeks that followed Pam called an messaged me thanking me an telling me how happy she an her family was with this puppy. Pam’s daughter messaged me saying she wanted a puppy.I also received videos of her teaching him tricks she also posted his pictures an videos on group on Facebook saying how happy she was with this puppy.

Several weeks later she messaged me that she wanted to learn to groom she bought clippers an groomed him. I told her to be very careful about getting hair in his eyes because the could get irritated and cause problems to use sterile eye wash. Days later she called me saying his eyes were red an irritated I told her take him to the vet finally she did but by this time he had cherry eyes in both eyes she message me saying she had been pushing the 3rd eye lid that was infected back in his eyes. She said her vet told her to do so an that if they did not go back in that she was going to have them removed when she had him neutered I told her she must get him to the vet to stop pushing the membrane back in his eyes finally she took my advice and took the puppy back to the Vet an finally got this poor baby help. Pam told me she had had other Cocker Spaniels in the past both eyes an that she had to have surgery to have the cherry eyes removed. When she realized he needed attention ASAP an couldn’t wait months till he was neutered to repair she decided she wanted me to pay for the vet bill. I told her no I also offered to take the puppy back to get him away from her.

In my opinion I did not feel this was a good place for him but she refused to return him she said she wanted to keep him. Pam started talking very rude to me I told her I was very concerned about the puppy an more than happy to talk to her but I would not if she continued being rude. Then she said if I did not pay for the Vet bills she would take to the internet to destroy my reputation an to date she has done so as well as she has involved friends of hers. Not only about my puppy but that I am a fraud. The health check from the Vet was fake an telling people the Vet was fake there was no vet. Telling people on Facebook groups the Sire to this puppy I had 4 surgery’s done on his eyes.

To date the sire to this puppy has never had any type of eye surgery or to a vet due to a health issue. Sire an Dam both are healthy as well as this puppy’s sisters an brothers. 7 siblings are now AKC Champion I have focused on this breed for over 30 years. My Cocker Spaniels are family pets in my home. I do not have a business with outside kennels. My focus has always to breed to the standard for showing this is my hobby I also have many references from people with a sibling.
