I purchased a 2006 Jaguar X-Type and for the most part am happy with the vehicle.

I was finally able to secure an appointment with Millennium Motors, the Jaguar dealer in Plano, TX today for a regular maintenance.  I also asked them to inspect a clunking sound I am hearing when driving slowly over bumps (i.e. When pulling into my driveway).

The car is still under factory warranty, so I assumed this would be a quick diagnose and repair scenario, but I was wrong.  The dealer found that as some point prior to me purchasing the car, that it had been on a car carrier and where the carrier secured the vehicle with chains, they bent one of the trailing arms in the rear of the car.  The cost for the repair is estimated at $1,009 plus taxed.  I decline to have the repair made as I chose to contact Texas Direct Auto for resolution.

I first spoke with Frank Carranza who handled the financing & extended warranty.  He indicated that I needed to speak with Gary Maze, the Sales Manager.  Gary was very responsive and called me back in about 5 minutes.  Unfortunately, that is where the responsiveness ended.

He indicated that this damage could have occurred at any time prior to them getting the vehicle and it would be hard to assess blame, thus there was nothing they could do.  I asked point blank So buyer bewareI am now stuck with the problem?  Gary responded that I should wait 30 days until my extended warranty kicks in and then go back to have the Jaguar dealer perform the repair under the extended warranty as they wont ask any questions.

I am completely dissatisfied with this shady solution to a problem that should have been addressed before I purchased the car in the first place.  They absolutely would have felt the clunk when entering their parking lot, so they knew it was there.
