Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I purchased a vehicle from this dealer in July 06. I recently found out from my auto financier that my references were "fake". Of course the red flag pops up because anytime I have ever applied for credit or a loan, I use the same 4 people. My mom, dad, aunt and best friend. I found out the names of the people who were actually used and I do not know these people. Another thing I found out was, that the four "fakes" are all State Farm agents. I know NO ONE from that company.

I call up the dealer and ask them about it and naturally, I got the runaround from the general manager.("I can't answer for the salesman" and "I don't look at the apps") Ask yourself this: If you were in charge of a car dealership with MILLIONS of dollars in inventory, and someone comes in to buy a car with a loan. Wouldn't you think that you would look over the application? I know I would, especially if I was letting some guy drive off the lot in a $17,000 car. There's another indicator right there.

When I was on the phone with my auto financier, I asked if they could fax me a copy of the application and this woman politely told me she was not able to do that, unless it was subpoenaed by the courts. However, she did tell me a couple of things. 1.) The four names of these "fake" references. 2.)The references were listed on a seperate piece of paper. 3.)The "fakes" were written in different handwriting than the handwriting on my application.

Those three things tell me that someone else intentionally wrote down those names. I know I didn't. I have no reason to! This was not the first time that Autobarn lied to me. When I initially walked in and talked to them about a car, they ran my credit score and told me something different than what I already knew. I asked them to double check it. They told me my score was about 100 points higher than it actually was.

It boils down to this: if YOU bought a car from the Autobarn in Countryside, IL. If you filled out a credit application or more than one application(for different banks). CALL THOSE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS and ask them what names they have on your application(s). I believe that this dealer will use anything and everything at their disposal to sell another car. How would you feel if some person called you and asked "do you know this guy?" and say you didn't know that guy. Wouldn't you be concerned that someone is using your name?

The reason for this report is, to let people know what happened to me and to prevent this from happening any longer. I filed a complaint with the FTC. If it has happened to you. Call a lawyer and file a report with the FTC!

The bottom line. I let myself get duped! Lesson learned! Good Luck!

They falsified my credit application as well. They falsified my income, my rent etc. to obtain a lower APR and sell me the car. Please feel free to contact me at: (((ROR removed for security purposes))) VW Credit faxed me my application and sure enough, the information was falsified and there was "cut and paste" line above my signature. The sales manager Ryan Graham cut and pasted my signature to "his" application with false information. I hope to hear from you, Sincerely, Chris CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.
