Eddie called offering an amazing opportunity to advertise on a magazine called "The Best of Downey", he offered a quarter page high gloss, full color ad for $40 a week for 30 weeks.  Conveniently one of his guys happned to be in my area and sent him right over.  (I think it was the same guy that called and the one that showed up).

Scott Showed up.  He carries a briefcase full of executed contracts, each with a check and a business card attached.  They appear old and overly handled, they use this to entise you to buy now since they only have 2 or 3 spots left.  He sold me on a full page, back cover for $2600 for 7 1/2 months, the magazine would be distributed at a local Ralphs and Walmart.  But his sales gimmicks were obvious, there were many red flags, and ultimately the opportunity was too good to be true.  He showed me a check from a local doctor that had just signed up, comparing the amount of what she paged versus what I was offered.  But the check appeard to be fake, it was clearly a printed copy and badly cut at the bottom.  I asked questions he couldn't asnwer, I told him I wasn't sure about giving him a check cause I might never see him again.  Well he was very offended.

I played a long, I signed up and gave him a bad credit card number. Just to give me enought time to look him up, I knew they'd call me back when the credit card didn't go through.  When he left I looked him up and my gut feeling was confirmed.  I came up with about 5 company names, and nothing solid on that company.

He came back the next day asking for correct infomation, we got into a confrontation and asked him to leave before I called the police.

They have a website for free marketing, you sign up and put your information right at their fingertips.  That's their prey.  Your artwork maybe printed and placed on a magazine which they will use to scam others.  You may infact be provided a few copies of the magazine in which you appear but it will never hit the stores.  They print a limited number just to make you believe they have done their job and ofcourse to get you to renew.  This magazine doesn't really exist, and the stores have never heard of them.

Please don't let these crooks take advantage of you! I take the time to describe this in detail because it is a very elaborate scam, the details may go unnoticed.  Their target market maybe new businesses, hispanic businesses and those trying to save on advertising.

BE WARE! Business card reads Scott Eddie Pole phone number is 818 290-6281, some of the names I came accross.

Had the same experience and just canceled on our meeting for tomorrow. He called out out of the blue and said we met at the Newport Chamber mixer, but I don't have his business card even though I have like 15 from that night. Couldn't find any information on him (email was a dud on linkedin), and what he was pitching did sound too good to be true. I think he said $50 per week for me or something and it involved TV commercial slots and magazine at Gelsons or whatever...

But ya, if its easier to find a ripoffreport of someone than the person himself, that says everything doesn't it?
