The GSE is working. He has had two negative fecals. The problem now is he developed a bacterial infection from all the meds. I tried a double dose of the Panacur before we tried the GSE. He is on an antibiotic to treat the BI and then hopefully he will be recovered. If he gets it again then I am looking into another holistic option call Kocci.

How is the GSE working? Never tried it, don't know anyone that's tried it :-). Is he doing better? Also, did you consider the vaccine? Hope things are going better.

I have done extensive research. I thought we finally knocked it out of his system until this month it reared it's ugly head again. I found some great info on the benefits of Grapefruit Seed Extract. It is a natural remedy for Giardia. I am going to try this as I have nothing to lose at this point. I really hate the drugs he is on they cause liver damage long term. The GSE would not be harmful to his little system. It can also be used as a disinfectant. He wasn't showing symptoms. His last Snap Test was negative. He has had at least 12 tests. We would test and then test again in two weeks. He wasn't showing any visible signs either. The problem is the cysts can be dormant and then reinfest again.

Have you actually looked up giardia at all on your own? I would suggest at least looking in both the human and veterinary mercks. They are online as well. Might give you some other treatments to talk to your vet about, and maybe a better understanding of giardia (one of the most common parasites)in general. Infected area's should be considered to remain infected for at least a month after the affected animal has last been there, as it can survive in the enviroment as well. Disinfectants include quaternary ammonium compound, bleach, steam, and boiling water, should sit for at leat 5 to 20 minutes, and the area should be allowed to dry thouroghly. Animals should be washed and rinsed thoroughly, so as not to be reinfected by their own hair. Was he still showing symptoms but just not visible on slides, or was he not showing symptoms anymore and not showing visibly? I might add this company to my research list. Hope Dillon feels better soon.

Well it took persistant, but I managed to get my review reactivated. The next day they removed all of their listings. They still have their website, but it has not been update in a long time. They still have the nerve to keep my review of Trigger posted. I check daily on the net to see if they pop up anywhere else. I did find an add in a Chicago paper. I know it was them posing as a buyer trying to get someone else to split the shipping if they bought a puppy too! The listing is below. They have the nerve to use Doc's puppy picture. http://chicago.kijiji.com/c-Pets-Dogs-puppies-Chicago-Welcomes-Cowgirl-Chic-Kennel-W0QQAdIdZ91330257 Chicago Welcomes Cowgirl Chic Kennel Price: Please contact Ad ID: 91330257 Visits: 342 Address: City of Chicago Location: Chicago City of Chicago Date Listed: Dec-01-08 Well bred, hand raised, fabulous temperment and excellent with children little shorkies and maltipoos from Oklahoma. Sadly, Dillon has had only on month free of Giardia since he arrived. Last month was his only Giardia free month. Just this week he was diagnosed with it again. Now he is back in quarantine. The Vet said it probably just went dormant. Now he is on a double dose of the medicine to try and get him well. It is funny how Nancy made the comment it was no more than a child getting an ear infection. I wonder if she would like to keep paying my Vet bills. It surely stunted his growth as he has only gained 2 pounds since he arrived. He weighs a whopping 7 pounds! The Vet said he was born with it and it is systemic throughout his system. He hasn't been to daycare for months as I don't want him to expose this to the other dogs. I keep him in a seperate area from Doc and Trigger. I have managed to keep them Giardia free.

Hi Dee, Just wondering how your pup is? Hope he got over the illness and is thriving now. I noticed that they no longer list through puppyfind. Wonder if they were finally kicked off the site?

A puppy can get giardia from any water anywhere near your house. stream, a puddle, a creek. Puppies over a certain age generally need a rabies vax to ship if they are a certain age, and dewormings are a routine part of puppy ownership, whether they have tested positive or not. And parasites are not generally covered in alot of the states because they are not generally considered to be serious or life threatening. I am not defending the breeder, just like to get facts and my oppinions out there.

Sadly, Dee is accurate in what she says about the breeder. I have had first hand experience with them, albeit very temporary. When I saw what they were about I backed off. I'm actually shocked the pup didn't have more wrong with it. These two breeders need to be stopped.

It does not mean that the breeder was "bad" or kept your dog in poor conditions. Even if a full fecal panel was run, it is often undetected unless a specific giardia snap test is run. Just because Drontal was given does not mean the puppy was being treated for Giardia. Drontal is most prescribed for tapeworms or other worms. Metronidizole is the most common treatment for Giardia, as I am sure your vet likely prescribed for your dog. You are slandering this breeder for a very minor issue. Like if a kid had the sniffles or an ear infection. I would hate to think what you would do if your dog had a real problem. Oh, and airline travel certificates do not require a fecal exam, so good luck I don't think you will get very far.

Someone needs to shut them down. I supplied all my supporting documentation to Puppyfind and they have yet to post my review. In the meantime they are still selling sick puppies to unsuspecting buyers. Can anyone tell me who to contact in Antlers, OK?

Two or three days after I emailed the breeder to express my concerns about Dillon they changed the website. This is a mother and daughter team named Jacy and Chelsea. The old website was teacuppuppies4u.com The new website is cowgirlchicboutique.com/cckennel.html They are still using my reviews for my other dog Trigger. I purchased Trigger from them in Sept 2007. I also purchased another puppy named Doc in June 2008. Dillon was my 3rd puppy. Clearly their standards have changed. They only care about the mighty dollar not the condition of these puppies. I requested my review of Trigger be removed from their website and puppyfind. It is funny I posted a new review on their new puppyfind site and they requested it be taken down because it was invalid. I was assigned a ticket number and asked to provide proof of my claims to puppyfind. How one sided is that? They have sold more puppies since my negative review was taken down. http://www.puppyfind.com/l/?acct_id=50099
