Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
The Elliott Building Group has left me many a night writing letters to try and rectify problems we have been having with them. (This is very hard with a nearly two-year old son and two other children - 7 and 10.)

To begin with, we had a 10 foot, by 20 foot, by 10 foot deep sinkhole in our yard as they were building the house - which they never reported to us. We found out about the sinkhole by accident. When we asked them why they never were upfront with us about it, they told us they had no plans to let us know about the problem. They didn't think that ethically - do they know what ethics are? - they had to even let us know what happened.

Throughout the time of building in which we met their sales staff to decide on lights, extras, outlets, etc., we were promised many things which were not delivered upfront, instead I had to write my letters and cc: the local town about their about-face on certain promises. Even on items we already paid for!

The Mrs. of the household had to scold the foreign laborers placing insulation in the garage when the house was first built because they were doing so with no regard for the goal, which was complete insulation prior to hanging the sheet rock. These workers (did they have their green cards?) were wearing absolutely no protective gear over their mouths, were taring the sheetrock by hand and one guy was placing the insulation with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth (We have pictures). Another guy was playing soccer in the foyer.

Those are past problems. Here are the problems we have now. We have lost so much sleep because of these scoundrels.

We closed on the house in late December. Despite the fact that it is now just about June and despite the fact that they claim on their website and in their model home stating that they are award winning? and highly attentive to details, the following is a list of the problems we still have:

The floor which we paid thousands of dollars extra for was given to us all scratched up. It is buckling up in places and in some, the laminate is coming off.

Our carpet, we also paid thousands of dollars extra for it, has ugly seams in many plain view areas upstairs and is buckling in many places.

Our bilko doors to the basement are pre-scratched and rusting. This is how we have received them. These doors also leak into the basement when it rains.

Speaking of the basement, we have three more leaks (two are torrential) in the basement.

The paint job throughout our home is unprofessional: In some places all you see is primer, in others it is clear that they only sprayed on one coat, in others they did not sand before they painted and the wall feels like an unshaven hobo, in others there are big scoffs in the paint, and in others they have painted the trim the wall color or vice versa.

Our brand new hottub is scratched and chipped.

The front door to the house doesn't close right. It needs to be painted correctly and the weather stripping is already wripping off.

The master bath shower doesn't close correctly.

There are doors throughout the house that are not hung correctly. In fact, two doors that are supposed to meet don't meet correctly.

Three of our fans seem like they will fly apart when they are turned on at high speed because they were not balanced correctly.

Other fans we cannot run because they were placed to high, not tested by the company, and hit the slanted ceiling they are next to.

The stucco is coming off our house in at least two places. The stucco has a big patch that is the wrong color in one place.

A garage door is in the process of leaving the garage wall because a bolt is out. They tell us to spray the wheels of that door because it is quite difficult to open and shut. But it's brand new. Is the wheel track bent?

They stole property from my husband - a sign that we placed on our lawn and on the lawn of the local farmer (with his permission) from whom they bought the land. (Apparently, he is also very upset with them. Did they lie to him?)

They forced us to close on our house before the house was ready, because their contract said they could. They told us if we didn't close on the date they specified they would charge us hundreds of dollars per day we didn't close. They told us to trust them that they would complete their work after closing. Where are they?

There were lightbulbs we paid for which were never given to us, another was already burnt out.

Shoddy workmanship everywhere I look when I'm home. Deceit and deplorable business practices. This is how I feel.

Just last Thursday the kitchen/cabinet man they hired refused a scheduled visit to finally install cabinetry we paid for at closing (thousands of dollars). He won't come out to install the cabinetry and fix some problems before he says they pay outstanding bills over $30,000.

Seems like every contractor I talk to says they owe him money.

Our yard needs to be graded as there are valleys and crevises all over the backyard. The kids cannot go back there. We cannot seed until the land is fixed. Where is the Elliott Building Group when you need them?

WE WANT TO KNOW, MR BRAD ELLIOTT, PRESIDENT, WHEN ARE YOUR PEOPLE GOING TO STOP IGNORING US AND FIX THE PROBLEMS? IT HAS BEEN FIVE MONTHS.

Can you at least fix the mailbox that your people knocked over and never replaced properly? It teeters over when you touch it.

Mr. Gary Wirtz, the Vice President of Construction, came 2.5 hours late to our 30-day walk through. He promised to come back and continue the walk through. He told me to look into his eyes and trust him that he would make the repairs happen. Instead he has yet to return any of my calls since that date. Where are you? Are you now too busy for me while making "$500/hour?"

IN MY OPINION THESE PEOPLE HAVE TREATED US UNCONCIONABLY.

We are good, hard-working, law-abiding people who thought we would be purchasing our dream house. Instead it is headache after headache, bordering on nightmare. I am worried for my husband's health.

Just today, their "superintendent" of the property - Eric - told me that he could not help me by making appointments with the subcontractors to come back and fix how badly they botched things up. "It's out of my hands," he told me. He's going to speak to his "bosses" he told me.
