Michael David Spofford and his companies are rip-off artists! He gets his work through "Express Floors," "Coverall Floors," and "ProSource."
He hires men to do his installations, working them 6 days a week (sometimes til late evening hours). THEN, COME PAYDAY (which is supposed to be every Friday, which he also changes on a whim) he CHEATS people out of their pay by THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!
Just last week (7/15/05) he DISAPPEARED on pay day. Numerous phone calls were placed to him because many men were looking for their paychecks. This Scam Artist DID NOT return phone calls and ALL of these men had to wait til Tuesday (7/19/05) for a paycheck where he CHEATED them all out of monies due for work performed the prior week!
We also found out that Michael Spofford DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY THESE MEN. HIS BUSINESS ETHICS ARE NIL!!! Again, THIS WEEK (7/22/05), Michael Spofford has cheated men out of thousands of dollars on work performed and due to be paid. He claims the pay date has changed but NO ONE was told about this before hand. He claims that "work orders" are given to him TOO LATE, but this is far from the truth!
Work Orders are all FAXED to him at his fax number, and all are faxed ON TIME because PEOPLE WANT TO GET PAID, right??? Michael Spofford is a flat out liar, cheat, and scam artist. When starting a job with him, he'll tell you HE PAYS for things like "floor prep," "concrete crack repair," etc. Then you find out YOU'RE PAYING FOR IT!
His jobs are NOT measured correctly, the product being installed is SHORT, he does NOT order all products necessary to COMPLETE installations, and then he turns around and SCREWS the little guy saying it's THEIR FAULT.
Many people are pissed off beyond reason and this guy is being reported to The Better Business Bureau, The Registrar of Contractors, and The Attorney General's Office.
If you know how to look his information up, you'll see plain as day just how many times he's been sued civilly. He has four different licenses with the Registrar of Contractors which are current. HOWEVER, he HAD four OTHER licenses with the Registrar of Contractors that were REJECTED, previous to the four he has now.
There are State and Federal Tax Liens against him which he's probably SCRAMBLING to pay. He's listed under M S INDUSTRIES LLC and his office phone number (besides the phone numbers already given) is: 623-322-6691.
Not only are Installers pissed off, the customers are now, too!
BUYER/INSTALLER BEWARE!!!!!! You'll get a song and a dance before this man pays you what is RIGHTFULLY DUE TO YOU!!! If you're SMART - YOU WON'T LET THIS RIPOFF ARTIST DO ANY OF YOUR FLOORING INSTALLATIONS!

I have in fact worked with Mike Spoffard in the past. This is not a malicious attacking rebuttal but an account of what I experienced in dealing with Mike. He typically hires subcontractors to perform his installations and because his business ethics are poor as well as his pay he rarely works with the same installers twice. He often does not pay on-time and sometimes not at all. In the short period of time I dealt with Mike it became very obvious that Mike was interested in doing one thing and that was lining his pockets with money at everyone elses expense. Mike is a very good salesman but a very poor business man. I would stay clear of Mike Spoffard because eventually you will get burned. You cannot refute the fact that he has had several licensing issues with the ROC. It is all there for public record. In general people want to be able to trust people and Mike is good at taking advantage of that trust. Arizona has plenty of outstanding Licensed Contractors but Mike Spoffard is not one of them. Trust your money with someone else.

I would like to respond to this as best as I can since this is the first time it has come to my attention. First of all it is very common for installers to work 6 days a week. I have never made any installer do any thing they didn't want to do. As for these particular installers who can only identify themselves as D must not want to make it known who they are, so I can write a true account of what really happend. As far as I can tell anyone can write about anyone and say whatever they want, just as I could make up a really good story about YOU the reader if I had your name and wanted to be malicious. If these events really happend why was no legal action taken or a claim filed with the labor board against me? Could it really mean that the person who goes by the name D, really stands for Dishonest?
