Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company will steal your money. They recently changed their name from Legal Helpers Debt Resolution AKA Macey Aleman Hyslip and Searns to The Mortgage Law Group as of February 1st 2011 due to their F rating with the better business bureau. They will tell you that the reason they have a F Rating is because they don't report or pay the Better Business Bureau to grade them because they are a law firm which is ridiculous. they will give you the name of an attorney in your specific state so that you can go to your state bar association and look up that one specific attorney to ease your fears of the BBB rating.

They will tell you if cannot afford to make your mortgage payments and their fees as well, not to worry because they will get you current once they modify your home and the missed payments will get put on the back of the mortgage. They will also tell you that they changed their name to "seperate divisions" within the Law firm such as Bankruptcy, Debt Settlement ETC..when actually the company's real name is American Platinum Financial Services. They started using Legal Helpers Debt Resolution once their name started to get out as a sacm company. Stay away from this company! They are bad news and will set you up on a 3 to 4 month payment plan and steal your money quicker than you can shut the front door of your home once you lose it.

Indiana, Missouri, Connecticut, Illinois, and other states already mentioned above and one (at least) still investigating The Mortgage Law Group have won lawsuits filed against The MOrtgage Law Group or are still working their way through the court system.  Just do a quick search with any search engine.

A year ago I downloaded a copy of their web site.  URL was: themortgagelawgroup.com.  Now go to the same web site!  It is a cleaning service??

There is no reason to go chasing mortgage modification businesses, lawyers or not, from out of state.  You can get help locally from organizations that will help you for free.

The lawyers involved in this are: Jeffrey Aleman, Thomas G. Macey, Jason E Searns

Check out the lengthy write-up done by the Better Business Bureau on the legal action against The Mortgage Law Group.

Accept responsibility for your actions folks

Everyone is so easy to judge the modification company's...  The real reason that MOST folks lose their home to foreclosure is their own fault. Just like anything in life most people do not want to except the responsibility for their own actions so they going to look for people to blame! Well wake up people , most of you came looking for help and were explained the process correctly but you acted on impulse, you were also provided a contract as well and if you did not take the time to read the contract that is your fault! Once again placing the blame on someone more than who should be at fault YOU!! As you probably figured out by now I am an EX employee. I was one of the negotiators that worked with the bank to get loan modified. I worked very hard and got a lot of successful modifications for folks and saved a lot of homes. All the homes can not be saved as the investor is ALWAYS going to do what is in their BEST interest as you would if you were the investor. That is why this program is here people. Not because you were so so freaking foolish to sign at a interest rate of 7 or 8% on a variable rate because the investors that gave you the money to buy your home was losing a lot of money because you thought that things were greener on the other side and signed the note . YES YOU SIGNED THE NOTE!!!! Somehow homeowners have come to the conclusion that they are entitled to a modification ...really? Come on. It is not the investors fault that the recession is here, it is everyone's fault EVEN YOU that is reading this post! Start taking responsibility for YOUR actions. I can not tell you how many people that I would ask waiting for a modification how much money do you have saved in the bank because you have not made a mortgage payment for the last 9 month? What do you think that most common answer was? Yes $0. Who fault is that? The modification company? Well you are looking for someone to blame so why not right? Again accept responsibility for your actions folks. Nobody told you to spend that money. They may have told you that is looks better to the lender if you are not making payments  and to even use the money that you should have paid your mortgage with to pay the firm, but where is the rest of the money? Most of the time when the loan is modified the payments are brought current depending how far behind you are or if you can still pay the loan off in 30-40 years. But people fail to realize that they did not seek help when they lost their job, or got a reduced income, they reached out for help when they were 6-10 month behind in payments already.  So if the modification takes 3-6 month to complete how far do you think that the homeowner is behind now? So again what do you think that the most typical answer was?  Most would say when I asked that questions " well I had other bills to pay " Ya well the last time that I checked you had a mortgage and you were not applying to get a free mortgage " Modification take a long time. Most of the time it is because people do not qualify. They lose their $100K per years jobs and they can not live the way that they used to and they did not save their money like they should have  and expect to get a lower mortgage because they want to pay for the child's college education.  Bottom line is there was no back up plan when we signed our mortgage notes folks. I do believe that most negotiators did not have as much heart as I did, but no one in this company set out to rip anyone off.  The intentions were good, a lot of the time when the bank asked for paperwork the average homeowner did not send it to their negotiator when they should have and that slows down the process. Bottom line is Yes you can do this on your own but it is a lot more work then meets the eye. if you had a pipe break in your home, you can fix that to but most people would call a plumber... Just sayin' :)  have a nice day and good luck with you home in the future....

I have been working with this company and am not satisfied.  They will take your money and put you on the four to five month payment plan and never contact your mortgage lender also tell you to not contact your mortgage lender as they are the third party advocate for you.  This is not true.  You can and should contact your lender then call HOPE make sure it is a government website.   (.gov) should be after the website address.  Do not fill out anything on the internet asking for help from companies you have never heard of.  You do not need them.  There is many sources and it is illegal to ask for money upfront in the first place.  Debt settlement also can be found on the HOPE website or any other Government website.  Not these so called law firms with a billion names attached to them.  Find a non profit in your home town.  Do not deal with anybody outside of your state.

I just saw this thread, and I can't speak for others, but they did a pretty good job for me. I just got my Mortgage modified. They were very friendly and informative, and the process was quite smooth. I have no complaints. I got what I was looking for.

I have a question to the people that supposedly lost their homes: If you lost them, because you were ripped off, how come you did file a suit against them? I called the Attorney General, and the Illinois state bar, and asked them if there were any lawsuits against them, and they said no. I'm pretty sure that my State's AG and Bar wouldn't lie to me. I kinda agree with the people that commented good things about them. The complaints sound pretty weak, and is they're originating from competition/ex-employees.

Sincerely,

Kaitlin W

#9Consumer Suggestion

My sister is dealing with a Mortgage Law Group in Juno Fla.  she's already paid them $1,000 and is finding it difficult to reach them at times.  This group rarely answers the phone or return her calls.  I've warned her to start investigating them because something smells fishy.  Perhaps those of you who claim to have been helped has used the reputable Mortgage Law Group.  Anyone can set up a bogus business (e.i. Legal Helpers Debt Resolution aka Macey Aleman Hyslip ...) using the name of a company that is in good standing.  But I also find it suspicious that those people who claim to not have had any problems with any Mortgage Law Group are finding their way to the Rip Off site.  Why are you there if you have nothing but praises.  Sounds to me that you are some of the evil doers trying to stop the trust from getting out there.

I looked them up through the Supreme Court Attorney registry, and they checked out. I just recently signed up with them, and they've been nothing but awesome. I was referred to them by a friend, who had their modification done by them too. She was also super pleased. I trust the State bar and the Supreme court reports on them, rather than your Anonymous claim. For all we know, you're just their competition.

Hello,

I'm not quite sure who you are, but by the looks of it, you seem to be an upset Ex-employee.

I recently hired the Mortgage Law Group to help me out with my loan modification, and not only where they awesome, but they got the job done. After months and months of being given the run around, by my lender, I finally decided to hire an attorney. They were referred to me, by someone else who was very pleased by their service, and stated that they could help me out.

The account rep was very informative, understanding, and once I signed up, it all ran smoothly. With in 3 months, I got my Loan modification, and didn't lose my house! I was so happy, that I've been referring them to other family members, and those family members have been very happy with their services too.

I have documentation to show that they've helped me and all my family members. I'm sorry, but I'm going to stick up for a Law firm that saved me from losing my home, and I'm very sure my friends are more than willing to do so too.

So, my challenge to you goes like this: Can you prove that people have lost their homes because of them? Because I can definitely provide proof that they save people from losing their homes and get them the loan modifications.

Sincerely,

Mr. Castillo
