Colorado Springs,#2Consumer Suggestion
Sat, January 17, 2004
Since I have been complaining about Thomson on this site, I feel I should also let you know that Thomson has finally decided after five months that they will buy back my HDTV at full price plus shipping. I can only recommend that a person with a problem with Thomson get the local TV station and the BBB in the city where the service senter is located to get involded on your behalf. I also recommend writing to the executives at Thomson. You won't believe how they hate people who nag them about a problem And most importantly don't give up! It was the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a manufacturer. But the more I got rebuffed, the more pressure I applied back.

I have submitted this problem to the local TV stations and they contacted the executive office of Thomson. They said an executive would call. He called last Monday to say that he would personally find a shop that would repair my HDTV. I asked for my money back and he replied that the warrenty does not provide for it, and I bought the warranty when I bought the set. He said he would call back on Friday with information, and I told him if he does it would be the first time anyone from Thomson ever returned a call. HE NEVER CALLED BACK. So now we know that the attitude at Thomson against the consumer starts at the top.

I sent this letter to every corporate officer in Thomson I could find. D Alston Dear Mr. Harper It is in sheer desperation that I contact you today. I am completely out of patience with your Service Center in Durant, OK, as well as your Thomson Review Board. If I had the phone number or address of your CEO, this letter would also be going to him as well. I purchased a RCA 52" HDTV in June of 2003. Within three months the blue gun went out and I called a authorized service center here in Colorado Springs, CO. (Budget TV) They came and took the set on August 29, 2003. After a month I called the Service Center and could not get any estimate of when I would get my set back. I called your service Center in Durant. They indicated that your Service Hotline had to determine if the repair could be made before any thing else could be done. I also sent a request to your Thomson Review Board asking them to review the situation and either replace the set or refund my money. Since then I have tried to communicate with Budget TV, Thomson Review Board and your Service Center in Durant. With few exceptions, all my calls, Faxes and emails are ignored. The only place I can get in contact is Durant Service Center and they can't or won't help, and never return calls that they promise to return. It has now been four months that my set has been at the repair center, and I have just called the Durant Center and was told that they are trying to find another repair center to fix my set. There are no others in the Colorado Springs area, and the ones in Denver will not service me here in the springs. I know, because I have called them. I am now at four months in the shop, the ecurrent shop has done nothing, Durant is looking for a new shop, I am without my set or the $2800 I paid for it. I do not know if the set is still in one piece, or when I get it (If Ever) will it stay fixed, as there is no where to get it fixed again. Is there any help you can provide me before I take this to the local TV stations and seek restitution in small claims court? I cannot understand how a large corporate company like Thomson (RCA) can treat their consumers like I have been treated. I only seek what is fair, and your company does not seem to care about me or my problem with on of their products. I await you call with some answer to my problem. All the communications I have made to your company are on the computer in Durant. Regretably Yours
