I have been a Time Warne cable customer for about 6 months now. I haven't really liked any bit of it the whole time, either.

It all started the first day I had Time Warner Cable. I scheduled a time for the installation tech to come to my apartment the day after I moved in. That way it wouldn't be too cluttered, and everything would be in place to be hooked up.

Time Warner told me that the installation tech would be at my apartment that day any time between 8am and 4pm. They also told me that the tech would call me half an hour in advance to make sure I was home. The tech showed up at 7:30am, rang the doorbell one time, waited 30 seconds, and left.

The tech came back at 6pm, again without calling, and struck an attitude with me for not answering the door the first time he had been there. He was there for 5 minutes, didn't explain how any of the equipment worked, didn't leave any kind of reciept or business card, or even a manual, and then left.

One month after I started using Time Warner Cable, the phone line stopped working. I called in to customer service and told them what was happening and they scheduled a time for a technician to come in at the end of that week. (I called in on an Sunday, and they wouldn't send a technician until Thursday.)

The technician was late on Thursday, took one look at the modem, and picked up a phone from my apartment. The phone worked. The technician said with and attitude "I guess I'll just cancel the work order since your equipment works fine."

Two months after my service was hooked up, all of my Time Warner services Mysteriously stopped working. I called time warner and set up a service call for a technichian to come look at it. They scheduled an appointment for a tech to come out on Wednesday, between 10am and 2pm, which was 3 days away.

The technician never came, and on Thursday morning I called again to tell them that my tech had never came. They told me that they couldn't see the call on their screen, but would be able to schedule another visit for the following Monday between 8am and 4pm.

This angered me, since I had no phone, no internet, and no cable, but I had no choice, so I agreed to schedule that time frame.

On Friday, I got a call from a Time Warner Collections representative who said that they never recieved my payment for that month, and that they were coming out to my apartment to take their equipment back. This scared me because I had mailed the check to them two weeks prior to that phone call.

As soon as I hung up from that call, I called my bank and had them put a stop on the check I sent Time Warner. They told me that the check had already been cashed by Time Warner Cable, and the money had come out of my account. I looked at my statement on line to verify this information, and it was true. I took the statement into Time Warner's Troy, Ohio office and showed them the printout from my online bank statement saying that the money had come out of my account and into theirs a week prior.

They acted like they didn't know anything about it, and tried to tell me that it must have bounced or something. I HAD MY BANK STATEMENT RIGHT THERE TO SHOW THEM THAT THEY CASHED MY CHECK BEFORE THE BILL WAS DUE, AND IT WENT THROUGH WITH A POSITAVE BALANCE IN MY ACCOUNT!

They told me that they would take care of it for me, and the reason that my equipment wasn't working is they had rendered it useless due to not recieving my payment.

When I got home that day, everything was working again, confirming that they had purposely caused my equipment to fail.

Another big thing that made me mad is when they decided to not air the local NBC affiliate, Channel 2. That was almost enough to make me switch to AT&T, but that's a seperate ripoff report in itself. I finally got channel 2 back 2 weeks ago, and now my cable box doesn't work again. Internet and phone work fine. Kind of makes you wonder if they flipped that same switch in the office to render my equipment useless just to get a service call out of me.

The bad part is they get away with crappy customer service, because where I live, if you want cable, you either have Time Warner or you don't have cable. Someone seriously needs to start a new business selling cable to compete with Time Warner. I gurantee if this happened, Time Warner would fold in 3 months.
